Tho steamer Mariposa arrived from
Colonics Tuesday evening after a .re
markably rough trip which made her
many hours late.

It looked as If the vessel would foun
der but, being such a staunch boat, she

Purser Fiilchcr out of his room. All
the trip to Pago Pago tho vessel bad
exceedingly bad weather nnd was han

She had a. full through passenger
list and took but six passengers from
this port, getting away In n hurry nbout
4 o'clock this .morning. As she had
tbo Australian mall aboard nnd was
lato every eftort will bn innilo to push
her to San 1'ranc.lfco. It Is thought
that possibly she will set In about the
same tlmo that tho Sierra does and
muylio an hour or two before. Had
tho Sierra not gotten uway as soon as
sho did tho. mall from the Mariposa
would havo been put aboard and the
Sierra git en ruall orders. As It Is the
Mariposa will do tho rushing nnd she
has heretofore always been able to
deliver tho goods on time.
