The biennial meeting of the trustees
of Queen's hospital was held yesterday

ernor has not been announced yet, al
though it can be stated that F. A.

Wood, surgeon; Dr. C. B. Cooper,
The report of Superintendent Eck
unit shows that during the two years
ending June 1, 1901, 1835 patients were
treated at Queen's Hospital as against
17C5 during the previous biennial pe
riod. The number of deaths was 187,
or 9.8 per cent. There have hien 89
major and 110 minor surgical opera
tions. The nnthe patients have decreased
Iti number and the foreign patients In
creased. The superintendent appre
hends n large Increase In the number
of emergency cases with the Inaugura
tion of Rapid Transit street car line
nnd believes an emergency ward- li
needed. He recommends that the
laundry work be given to the Sanitary
Steam Laundry and that tlio hospital
laundry be abolished. Sewer connec
tions arc being made.
PEYSER TO JAIL.
M. H. I.cnnon, charged with gross
cheat, appeared for trial in the Pollco
Court yesterday afternoon und defend
ed himself. In the first case, It was
alleged that defendant gave J. Mo
Donough a worthless check for MOO on
the Bank of Hawaii. The case was
submitted without argument on cither
side and defendant was sentenced tq
six months' Imprisonment at hard la
bor. In the second case, the defendant was
alleged to have defrauded Manager
Card of the Moana hotel out of (30 by
means of a bogus check on the First
National Bank of Illlo. Defendant was
found guilty and sentenced to six
months' Imprisonment at bard labor,
There was a third charge of a similar
nature against the defendant but It wag
continued Indefinitely at the suggestion
of the prosecution.
