BUT IT 18 TRUEVS WEJNV1TE Votf,TO DISCOVER THIS MORNING.
There are severill hundred of themthese Corsets in eighteen differ
ent styles ; und, none of them werever before sold for less than a
dollar and a quarter. Reason why they're so cheap ? Fact is we
have too many. Free to confess that. Everybody makes mistakes
in buying lometlmes, and we well, we must " pay the piper."
Come In and see them, It will be strange enough if you don't find"
some among them that will lit you as comfortably as the proverbial
old shoe, and fit you without sacrificing stylishness, either.

fill) III BE CRANKY
San Francisco, July 23. It was
learned yesterday that the remodeled
training ship Alert will not after all
be sent on a voyage to Honolulu and
Yokohama with apprentices, on ac
count of the Inability of tho vessel to
carry sail. Two Or three weeks ago
the Alert came down from Mare Isl
and after having been laid up three
years undergoing repairs and an over
hauling and was scheduled to sail the
same week for Yokohama. Instead of
sailing, however, the ship returned to
Mare Island, ostensibly to have slight
repairs mado to the condensers. Now
the Information comes from an ap
parently reliable source that a test
made In dry dock nt the Island showed
that the Alert, although well down In
tho water, would not carry sail. On
this account, instead of sending tho
vessid on a long trip across the Paclttn
Mio will first be taken tor a trip nlon;
tho coast to Puget sound, when a prnc
tlcal (1.3 1 of tho Alert's sail carrying
capabilities will bo made. ,
The Alert wbb reported as having left
San Francisco and was supposed to bo
well on her way here.
