Clemmons, the latter of whom was
charged with assault Mid battery on

Clemmons has a room and Hedmnn
sleeps on the veranda because lie'

The trouble between the two took
place on Tuesday and, according to
the testimony of the ditendnnt, he and
Hodman had been drinking from 11
o'clock In the morning to 7 o'clock at
night. The defendant stated that Ilcd
man went Into his room and began to
call him names. He did not mind thin
ery much but when he began to com
mit n nuisance In his room, then he
did object.
He stated further that Redman pull
ed out a knife and went nt him. In
order to protect hlmselt, ho threw up
his arm but was not quick enough, re

continued and then two or three
knock-out blows were given. Whe'i
