tain Williams, arrived here yesterday
afternoon, 20 days from San Francisco,
with a largo cargo of general mer
chandise. This Is the flrst trip the ves
sel has made here for several years ns
she has been running between San
Francisco and Hllo In the Matson linn
to which she belongs.
Tho Johnson wns formerly the Ilrlt
lsh bark Ada Iicdcll and on her mald
fn voyage with a cargo of eoal to San
Francisco she was abandoned In tha
South Seas as her cargo was discover
ed to bo on Are. Crawford & Co. ol
San Francisco, who owned the cargo
hired Captain Godfrey, late president
of tho Inter-Island Co. of this city to
go after the bark and save her If pos
sible. He did this and ran her Into
Tahaitl where she was repaired suffi
ciently to get her to San Francisco,
There she had permanent repairs made
and was given American registry. Tho
vcBRel since then has been fortunate
and a good money maker for her own

drink alcohol In somo form before go
ing to school. Tho teachers, both men
and women, arc unanimous in declar
ing that the scholars who use alcohol
are tho worst In the schools, A head
teacher In Rhenish Prussia had under
his supervision eloven children, the off
spring of notorious drinkers, and they
