Washington, Jan. 7. Tho object of
Admiral Schley's visit to tho Whlto
House yesterday was to request the
President to consider uu appeal for tbe
reversal of tho action of Secretary
Lorig and the disapproval of the ma
jority Judgment of tho court of Inquiry.
Tho Interview was satisfactory, tho
President granting the Admiral's re
quest. Admiral Schley was given an
opportunity to present tho case from
bis standpplnt and to nrq'ualnt the
President with many detnlls with
which tho latter could havo no knowl
edge, llayncr and Tengue, counsel for Tlcar
Admiral Schley, ramo over from Haiti'
more today and wero closeted for sev
eral hours with their client. While It
is not definitely known how much time
was afforded In which to prepare the
appeal, It Is understood to bo the wish
of President Roosevelt that the matter
be presented ns early as possible.
