At a meeting of the Honolulu Ilnpld
Transit Co jestcrda) afternoon It wn?
decided to Instruct thcT'Wce-prosldent,
J. II. Atherton, to call a special meet
ing of the stockholders for Wednesday,
May 7. for the purpose of making cer
tain nltctallons and amendments to the
b)-laws and nleo to Increase' the capital
stock of the company to $1,000,000. It
was also decided that n further meet
ing of the stockholders be called for
Thursday, May 8 for the purpose of au
thorizing the creation of.a bond Indebt
edness to the amount of $1,000,000.
The company Intends to proceed im
mediately with the construction of tlM
tracl.8 on King street with a lcw to
reaching Knplolanl park nnd operating
a through service as soon as possible.
The next step will be the construction
of the line commencing nt the foot ot
Fort street nnd running along the Es
planade to Alakea street, up Alakea to
Htnma, and Punchbowl to the exten
sion of Kuaklnl, along this street to
Nuuanu, and up Nuuanu to a connec
tion with the Pacific Heights road, and
possibly to the buck arls.
Another line In contemplation is one
connecting with tho King street line nt
Militant street, opposite the entrnnco to
the Capitol, and running along Mer
chant street to Fort On this line a
shuttle car will bo placed, making a
trip between theso points oery IHo
minutes. This trnck will also be used
for storage purposes on cenlngs when
there arc entertainments In the Opera
