logical Suney, Is Silver Spring, near
Ocala In Marlon county. It Is tho head
of Oclawaha river and Is also the head
of navigation, as steamboats come up
the river Into tho spring and have n
regular landing wharf thero. Tlio
river flowing ouL of this spring was
found to be sixty feet wide It had n,
mean depth of evelen feet, a mean elo
pity of ono foot nnd a quarter per sec
ond and a discharge of 822 ruble feet
per second. The spring basin Is about
thlrty-Ihe feet deep and the tempera
ture, late In December, was 72 degrees
F. Though tho wutcr has a slight
limestone tasto, It appears to h.ne no
other mineral constituents, and Is ex
