Llhue, Kauai, Feb. 13. The concert
Xhd dance given In the Lthuc Hall Sat
urday evening by the Mbklhana Club
attracted a large crowd from tho sur
rounding district. The entertainment
war given as a benefit by this club, a
literary organization whose members
are all ladles, to raise money to buy a
rurtnin for tho nail stage, in every re
spect tho entertainment wan a com
plete success. Tho concert program
was an exceptionally' fine, one, as each
member participating In tho several
numbers showed unquestionable tal
ent. Financially It was more than a
success, as the sum realized by the
admittance fee and the sales nt the
tv.o booths was considerably more than
required for tho purchaso of tho cur
tain. Socially tho plcasuro derived by
all present was immeasurable, but the

irogram was a selection by Coney's
orchestra. The second number, a pia
no solo by Mr, Omsted, showed his
musical skill. Tho third number, a
song by .Mrs. Francis (lay, was so
heartily enjoyed by tho listeners that
at Its conclusion It was met by an
outburst of applause. Tho fourth
number, a song by Sir. tie Loccy, was
well rendered. The fifth number, a
son by Mrs. Klston, demonstrated
her possession of a remarkably sweet
voice. Tho sixth number, 'a recltatloc
by Mrs. Sweetser, was positive proof
of her talent as an elocutionist. Ev
ery word delivered was distinct and
her gestures wero perfect.- Tho sev
enth number, a song by Miss Ada
Rhodes of Honolulu, was a musical
treat that would have, been enjoyed
liy any critic. The eighth number,
a duct by Mrs. Gay and Mrs. Etston,
was a superb rendition of vocalized
music. Tho ninth number, a song by
Mr, Alexander, was deserving of the
npplauso It received. Tho tenth num
ber, another song by Mrs. Elston, was
additional evldenco of tho swectnesi
of her voice. The program was con
eluded by tho singing of "Aloha Oe'
by tho orchestra and others.
Almost ecry number of this pro
gram was encored and every person
participating received floral tokens
from friends and admirers.
