JH court, a photographer was summoned
tS at the request of the manager of a Ka.

eso were then photographed In tho
! court house. Upon tho completion of
thl unusual act, they were then
charged with embezzlement and com
mitted to ball In the sum of $1,000
each. Tho trial of Maruoko, who had
sevcted his connection with the Wat-
tnea Wine Co. some two months be
fore, resulted In his being sentenced
to two months' Imprisonment by the
local magistrate. Judge A. T. Hofgaard.
No defenso was put up by tho defend
ant and an appeal taken to the Circuit
Court. Tho Grand Jury failed to find
any traco of embezzlement when t ho
case came up before them and ordered
tho sum of $76. which had been held by
the Deputy Sheriff as evidence, re
turned to tho defendant, who was law
fully entitled to tho money. As no In
dictment had been found, the case waB
dropped.
It la noted as strango that any per
son, beforo being proved guilty, should
be subjected to having his picture tak
en against his will, by any police offi
cer, even If so requested by tho com
plaining witness. '
