with flowers, etc.

ward wero being taken in that direc
tion. He hoped to ho nlile to furnish
all schools with garden tools In tho
future. Tho Inspectors wero now
paying more nttentlou to this part of
tho work. They wero uIbo paying
more attention to tho matter of grad
ing tho pupils. llabbltt had suggested
that tho Inspectors should show the
rtports they made on the various
schools to tho teachers. Just as bold
and bad as tho fact might he, before
they wcro sent lino the Department.
Wight suggested that a competition
should bo started, for InHtnncc, by giv
ing a diploma to tho school having tho
best-kept grounds.
. llabbltt answered it would bo almost
Imposslbio to award such a diploma
fairly on account of tho different con
ditions found.
Wight suggested that teachers who
did good work in this lino should bo
promoted accordingly.
