A lcs amount of rainfall than during last week was reported from
all stations on Hawaii, excepting 1.07 and 206 Inches, more at Paau
llo and Hakalau, respectively. In the southeastern portion of the
Hllo district the deficiencies ranged from 2 2 to 3.4 Inehes, and 1.7
Inches In the extreme eastern portion of the Puna district. In the
remaining sections the deficiencies did .not exceed .6 Inch. The sta
tions In the Walluku and Hamakunpoko districts of Maul report less
rainfall, and the remaining stations somewhat more. All stations on
Oahu, excepting Honolulu and Ewa, report more rainfall than during
tho preceding week, as also does Mapulehu, Molokal.
All stations on the Island of Hawaii report mean temperatures lower
than those of the preceding week, except three In the extreme north
eastern portion. Paaullo temperature was 1.4 lower, and Walmea,
1.3 higher, than last week's. At the remaining ctatlons tho changes
did not exceed .4. At the remaining stations In the several Islands,
excepting Walawa, Oahu, the mean temperatures were lower, the ma.
Jorlty of them appreciably so, due to cooler nights, and Indicating that
the fall season Is at hand.
Sheet-lightning was observed at pepeekeo and Hakalau, Hawaii, on
tho evening of the 19th, and a thunderstorm occurred at Honomu, Ha
kalau, and Pepeekeo, Hawaii, on tho afternoon or the 20th.
The following tabic shown the weekly averages of temperature and
rainfall for'the principal Islands and for the Group:

At the local office of the Weather Bureau In Honolulu, the weather
was generally partly cloudy, 4'10, with measuroable rainfall on three
dates, amounting to .10 Inch, .18 Inch leas than the normal for the
week, and ,32 Inch less than last week's. The maximum temperature
was 84, minimum, 72, and the mean 78.3, .2 lower than tho pre.
ceding week's, and .4 higher than the normal. The average relative
humidity was 69.7, and the prevailing direction of wind northeast,
with an average hourly velocity of 7.4 miles. On the 19th, 20th, and
21st, the barometer was quite low, reading on the 20th, 29.83 Inches,
.09 Inch below the normal.
