WEEKLY WEATHER BULLETIN
1 HONOLULU, T. H.( Dec. 3, 190C.
The total rainfall for the week, ai a rule, was much greater than It
hat been during any week' for tome time patt on Hawaii, except In
the Kona dittrlet; In the Koolau, Walluku and Lahalna districts of
Maul; at all itatlom on Oahu, and generally at Kauai stations. On
the 28th and 29th a heavy rainstorm was general on Oahu, In the Hllo
district of Hawaii, and In portions of the Kohala, Puna and Kau dis
tricts of the same Island. Heavy rains also occurred on the same date
at Nahlku and Puunene, Maul.
The rainfall was below the average for the week, for stations having
a record of ten or more years, at Kohala Mill, Laupahoehoe, and Ke.
alakekua (Davis), Hawaii, and Kllauea, Kauai. At all other such sta
tions It was above the average, the excesses ranging from 42.13 to
40 42 Inches In the Puna and Kau districts of Hawaii, and on Oahu.
Rainfall In amounts greatly exceeding these of the preceding week
were reported from all stations on Oahu; at a number of stations on
the windward side of Hawaii, at Kllauea and Llhue, Kauai, and at
Nahlku, Maul, the excess at the last named 'station being 11.01 Inches.
Reports of the occurrence of thunder and lightning were received
from a number of stations on Hawaii, Maul, Oahu and Kauai.
Snow was observed on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, and Haleakala Moun
The mean temperatures generally were lower than those of the pre
ceding week, and In a number of eases markedly so.
The following table chows the weekly averages of temperature and
rainfall for the principal Islands and for the Group:
Hawaii 71.3 3.05lnches
Maul 72.5 3.14 inches.
Oahu 71.9 5.27 Inches.
Kauai 71.4 1.75 inches.
Molokal 74.6 0.7einch.
Entire Group 71.8 3.20 Inches.
At the local office of the U. S. Weather Bureau in Honolulu very
heavy rains occurred during the 28th and 29th, amounting to 200
Inches on former and 2.16 on the latter date; the total for the week
being 6.00 Inches, an excess of 3.97 Inches, The mean barometer was
29.89 Inches, .08 Inch below the normal; and It was below the normal
thruout the week, considerably so from and Including Monday. The
maximum temperature was 79, the minimum 64, and the mean 71.6",
1.4" below the normal. The mean cloudiness 'was 610ths; average rel
ative humidity 82.4, and the prevailing wind direction was SE on
the 28th, NWon the 29th, and NE for the week, with an average hour
Iv velocity of 6.7 miles.

ISLAND OF HAWAII.
Puuhue Ranch (29) A heavy rain from the NW occurred on tin
2Cth. followed by heavy rains from tho S; light winds attended these
rains. Tho total rainfall watt 3.24 Inches, 3.02 Inches more than dur
ing the preceding wecl. 8. P. Woods.
Kohala Mill (29) Light rains occurred dally, excepting the SStli.
with thunder on tho 24th, and dull weather on tho last two days. Light
variable winds prevailed. The mean temperature, 72.4, wuh slightly
lower than that of tho preceding week, and the rainfall, .91 Inch', was
.34 below tho aveiage T. Holtum I.lllle.
Kohala Mission (30) Slightly warmer weather obtained, with rain
on six dates, amounting to 2.39 Inches, 1.71 more than tho preceding
week's, and 1.21 above the average. Tho mean temperature was
72.0. Dr. II. D. Bond.
Honokaa (28) Cooler, with generally clear forenoons, followed by
Cloudiness and afternoon rains. The mean temperature was 71.2.
and tho rainfall 2. 02 Inches, 1.07 greater than the average, and l.'J'.l

Paauhau (29) Cooler, with rains tm six dates amounting to 2.2S
Inches, un excess of ,84 Inch, and 1.82 Inches more than during tho
preceding week. The mean temperature was 71. I. Paauhau Sugar
Laupahoehoe (29) Stormy weather, nnd heavy seas prevailed, with
thunder and lightning on tho 24th und 25lh. The total rainfall, 1.71
Inches, was a deficiency of KS2, and 1.21 moro than that of the pre

Pepeekeo (29) Slightly cooler, with dally rains, very heavy on
the 29lh. amounting In all to 4.09 Inches, an excess of 1.20, and 2,31!
greater than the preceding week's. The mean temperattiro was 73.0.
Distant thunderstorms observed during tho afternoon and night of the

Hllo (29) Cooler, with showers on six dates, very heavy on the
29th, Tho mean temperattiro was 72.2. and the rainfall 3.57 liichci.

Kcumana (29) Tho 2'Jlh was stormy, with 4.3C Inches of rain,
Shuwers occurred on the remaining dates, umoiintlng In all to COS
Inches, 4,44 greater than that of the preceding week. The mean tem
perature was C9.3. -Thunder occurred on the 24lh and 25th, following

Kapolio (29) Cooler, with dully showers, and a heavy rain on the
29th, and ruining heavily at tho time uf closing report. The mean
temperature was 72.3. and the rainfall i!,44 Inches, an excess of 4.47,

Pahala (2S)On tli028th. 3.00 Inches of lain fell, with lighter shuwnrs
on three other dates, the amount for the week being 3.7C Inches, 3,53
more than tho preceding week's, und 2.23 above tho aveiage. The

Naalehu (28) A very heavy rain, umoiintlng to 3,19 Inches, attend
ed with thunder and lightning, occurred on the afternoon of tho 24th,
Tho total rainfall foi the week was 3.4U Inches, an excess of 2.13,

Kau (28) Cloudy, showery weutner obtained, with 2,00 Inches of
rainfall' on the 28lh. und n lutal of 4.80 Inches for the week. Tho

Kealakekua (28) Slightly cooler weather obtained, with .02 Inch
rainfall, 1.18 less than the preceding week's, und 1.119 less than tho
average. Strong NW winds obtained on tho 20th and 27th, while no

I8LAND OF MAUI.
Nahlku (29) Halns amounting to 1.33, 4.02, 1.10 und 7.35 luc-liua,
occurred on the 23rd, 24th. 27th and 29th, respectively, tho total for
the week being 14. "C Inches, 11,01 greater than that uf the preceding

Haiku (29) Cooler, generally partly cloudy weather, with rainfall
on six dates, und light trudu winds pievalled, excepting varluhle winds

with heavy ruins at Intervals, und winds varying fiom coiilheily to
