ness has been at 3c. c. f., same basis,

Europo was again a cause of dis
appointment to sellers and of hesita
tion to buyers, for present crop lleets
lost last week's advance of 3d. with
out any assignable cause excepting
reports of favorable weather for next
crop. This reaction In Europe had a
dampening effect here In spite of Cu
ban figures showing small receipts at
tho shipping ports and small exports,
two factors which should have been
reflected In this market by hardening
As It was, refiners secured little su
gar, and their purchases for the week
fell far short of meeting tho lnrondi
t'tat their meltings are making Into
their supplies, supplies which, as far
as regards the stocks In the Atlantic
ports, ore generally believed to bo
considerably less than tho official fig
ures represent them to be.
The largest transaction of the
week was the purchase by one of our
refiners of a cargo of 6,000 tons Javas
Imported last year Into Liverpool.
