HONOLULU, July 27, 1908.
The mean temperatures were lower than those of the preceding
week at all stations In the section, excepting at two In the Kohala
district of Hawaii, one In the Kula district of Maul, and one In the
Koolsupoko district of Oahu. The deficiencies, at a rule, were lets
than 1.0, and the greatest reported was 1.3.
The rainfall was below the average of ten or more years at all
stations In the section having such records, excepting at those In the
northern portion of the Hllo district of Hawaii. The deficiencies, In
Inches, In the several districts were: Hawaii Kohala and Hamakua
0.02 to 0.31, Puna and southern Hllo 0.43 to 0 53, Kau 0.22 to 0.2$, and
Kona 0.12; Oahu Koolauloa and Ewa 0.09 to 0.16, Koslaupoko 0.23 to
0.63, and Honolulu 0.32; Kauai Kona 0.01 to 0.02, and Koolau 0.23.
The greatcct amounts of rainfall, In Inches, were reported from the
central and northorn portions of the Hllo district of Hawaii, and
ranged from 2.93 to 4.20. In the remaining portions of Hawaii the
amounts were: Kohala 0.67 to 0.93. h.'mcmiia 0 82 to 1.05, southern
Hllo 1.61 to 1.77, Puna 0.76 to 1.31, Kau 0.00 to 0.24, and Kona 1.70.
The amounts on the other Islands werci Maul Hamakuapoko and
Koolau 2.02 to 2.36, Hamakualoa 1.32, Hana 0.31, Kula and Lahalna
O.CO, and Walluku 0.04 to 0.16; Oahu Koolauloa and Koolaupoko 0.04
to 0 29, and trace to 0.02 In the remaining districts; Kauai Puna and
Koolau 0.63 to 0.B3, nnd Kona 0.12 to 0.97; and Molokal 0 03.
, Thero was 0.12 to 087 Inch more rainfall than during the preceding
week ct all stations on Kauai. On the remaining Iclands the changes,
In Inches, were: Molokal 0.01; Oahu Koolauloa -40.13; Koolaupoko
O.00 to -10.11, and 0.00 to 0.01 In the remaining districts; Maul
Koolau 40.92, Hnmakuolon 0.48, Hamakuapoko 1.31, Hana 0.23,
Kula O.CO, and Walluku i0 04 to 40.12; and Hawaii Kohala 1.33 to
1.81, Hamakua 0.25, Hllo 0.03 to 41.55, Kau and Puna i0.03 to
40.09, and Kona 1.44.
The following table shows the weekly averaees of temperature and
rainfall for the principal Islands and for the Croup:

At the local office of the U. S. Weather Bureau In Honolulu partly
cloudy weather obtained, with .02 Inch of rainfall on the 25th, .33 less
than the normal for the week, and .01 more than during the precedlrg
week. The maximum temperature was 84, minimum 70. and mean
76.8, 1.2 below the normal, and 0.2 lower than last wcek'e. The
mean dally relative humidity ranged from 64 , to 67c, and for the week
was 64.3 . Northeast and cast winds prevailed, with an average
hourly velocity of 0.4 miles. The mean dally barometer ranged from
.01 to .07 Inch above the normal, and the mean for the week, 30.06
Inches, was .05 Inch above normal.
