Surveyors from llio Department of
Public Works aro at present working
up data In Punchbowl crater, which
KWlll ho presented to ttio Legislature
with the proposition that the crater
be made Into a reservoir site. Tho
Idea will bo to have enough of tho
crater cemented to hold n "Supply of
water sufficient for tho need of tho
city, tho water to bo lifted there by
pumps run by Nuiianu dam power.
Punchbowl Is 498 feet high, and
this altltudo would be sufficient to
glvo a powerful head of water every
whore In the city. On tho Maklkl
side of tho crater a cement wall
would probably havo to bo construct
ed, ns there la a gully there.
It might lie that a beautiful city
park could bo mado on tho top of
Punchbowl, tho situation ccrtnlnly be
ing an ideal, one. The .first step would
be to plant trees around tho slopes.
