The mem temperatures were considerably h'uher than during the
preceding week at all stations on Oahu, Kaual and Molokal, and In the
Kona district of Hawaii, nnd slightly higher generally on Maul and In
the Kohala and Hllo districts of Hawaii,
The rainfall during the week was light generally over tho, section,
and drought conditions are again becoming to assume a serious phase
In several districts. All stations In the ssctlon having a record of te I
or more years report less rainfall than thi average for the week. The
deficiencies, In Inches, In the several districts were: Hawaii Kohala
0.05 to 1.02, Hamakua 1.09 to 1.35, Hllo 2.08, Puna 1 OO, and Kau and
Kona 1.00 to 1.03; Maul Koclau 1.04, and Lahalna 0.50; Oahu KooIju.
Ioi 1.02, Koolaupoko 1.15 to 1.36, Honolulu 1.22, and Walannc and Ewa
0.C7 to 0.73; and Kaual Kona and Koolau 1.51 to 1.56, and Walmaa
The following are the amounts of rainfall for the week In the different
districts: Hawaii Kohala 0.21 to 0.53, Hamakua 0.14 ta 0.32. Hllo

1.0,, Haiku and Hana 0.58 to 0.64, Walluku 0.12, and Lahalna and Kuh

to 0.32, Ewa Trace to 0.C5, and Walanae 0.03; Kaual Kona, Koolau
and Puna 0.03 to 0.07, and Walmea 0.08 to 0.31; and Molokal 0.18.
There was less rainfall than during the previous week at all stations
on Hawaii at a few of the stations the deficiency being considerable
and In the Hamakuapoko and Walluku districts of Maul; generally
elsewhere there was more rainfall, but the differences were small.
A slight earthquake shock was felt at Kohala Mill, Hawaii, about
3.C0 a. m. of the 17th.
The following table shows the weekly averages of temperature and
rainfall for the principal Islands and for the Group:

At the local office of the U. S. Weather Bureau" In Honolulu clear to
partly cloudy weather obtained, with a trace of rainfall on the 17th,
a deficiency of 1.22 Inches as compared with the weskly normal, and
the same amount as during the preceding week. The maximum tern
perature was 82', minimum 66 , and mean 74.8. 1.1 above the normal
for the vcek, and 2.7 higher than last week's. The mean dally relative
humidity varied from 62 to 72 , and the mean for the week was
68.4 '. Southwesterly winds prevailed on the 15th, and northeasterly
on the remaining days, with an averag hcirly velocity of 6.6 miles.
The mean dally barometer ranged from 3D.02 to 30.12 Inches and the
mean for the week. 30.C, was 0.12 Inch rbove the normal.
