" i.rnoon with n vcrdict of Builty against the great grafter of this
city. The contest in the jury room is said to have been a hard one. It
was rumored early in the afternoon that three members stood against
Special Prosecutor Hency visited the court room today where he had
been shot down while conducting the case against Ruef. He was loudly
cheered by the prcat crowd assembled awaiting the jury verdict.
When the jury returned and delivered its report to Judge Lawlor
there was a tremendous outburst of enthusiasm for the Prosecution.
WAS STRICKEN WHILE ON FLOOR OF HOUSE
WASHINGTON, D. C, Dec. 10. Gen. Henry Worthington, a former
member of Congrcssfrom Nevada, was stricken with apoplexy this foic
noon while on the floor of the House. His condition is critical.
WASHINGTON, D. C, Dcc. 10. The National Rivers and Harbors
Convention met here today and was addressed by many speakers of
prominence. The tenor of all the remarks was to urge a policy of river
and harbor improvement on the Federal Government.
