present, as were also Supervisors V.
K Pogue, W. P. Until, and T. T. Mcy
cr. Supervisor S. E. Kalue was tin

The expenditures of tho County for
the year ending Dec. 31, 1908, wcro
$1SS,C7S.90, viz.: $136,95 1. 1G public
Improvements and road hoard pay
toll and $51,724.83 xllco pay roll.

tho new Hoard of Supervisors took
their oaths of onlco. Their bonds
wcro approved by Circuit Judge A.
N. Kepnlknl. W. F. rogue hns been
appointed chairman nnd T. II. Ljons
vice chairman. Never sinco the first
opening of County government in
1904 hns tho first meeting of tho
Hoard -been so well attended. It was
with tho greatest difficulty that ono
fought his way .through the solid
phalanx of Democrats and Homo Hitl
ers lining outslda tho headquarters
of the Hoard. Tho people were hap
py and contented at seeing tho two
Democratic members taking an act
ive part In the deliberations.
Molokal Democrats presented a
petition that the pay or laborers on
tho road lie raised to l.r0 per diem,
while tho Democrats and Home Kill
ers of Central Maul filed a huge peti
tion pinytng that tho appointments
for local olllecb liy T. II. Lyons bo ap
proved by the Hoard. On the strength
of this lust petition, tho Hoard adop
ted a resolution continuing In office
tho appointees of tho outgoing Hoard
until new appointments nro made.
