Cznmlkow, Mncdougall & Co., In
their report of February 19, slio up tlio
Cuban situation na follows:
Our last report was dated Thursday,
The raw sugar market was Idle dur

ndvanco asked by Cuban sellers. Ulti
mately some sellers gao way and re
finers took all that was offered at that
pllcc, namely, 2.25c. -c. f, for Cuban, or
Its landed parity of 3.61c. Later, 2.28c.

on sugars for shipment.
Tlio receipts at the six principal
shipping ports In Cuba are now a
high as they were at any time last
)ear, or during tlio previous year, when
tlio bumper crop of 1,427,673 tons was
reached? and If wo take Into account
tho Increased supplies from ports not
Included In tho weekly flguie, it Is
safe to assume that the weekly produc
tion of Cuba Is now nt least 90,000
tons, nnd Is at a higher level thun It
ever reached In Its previous history.
In connection with this It should be
noted that while the estimate Issued
by Messrs. duma-McJcr credited 70 per
cent of the total crop to the six prin
cipal ports and 30 per cent to tho other
ports, tho uctual figures far January
nro in the proportion of 76 per cent to
25 per cent. As 30 per cent of tho
total will probably pro'vo to bo n cor
rect estimate for the minor ports, the
smaller proportion In January will no
doubt be mnilQ up by something ocr
30 per cent In later months.
Messrs. Ouma-Mcjer's crop estlmato
(ssued In January was 1,397,571 tons.
An unofficial estimate has Just been
given out here, placing the crop at
1,350,000 tons minimum, l.tSC.OGO tons
maximum; but these flgmus ilu not
meet with general acceptance.
Tho percentage of crop made up to
31st January for four years (1906-1909)
Is as follows. The percentage for this
ear Is based on an estimated crop of
1,300,000 tons; that of tho other ears
Is figured on actual crop outturns: Jan
uary 31, 190918.3 per cent; 1909
13.7 per cent; 1907 23.G per cent;
190610.1 per cent.
