teresting book, and had almost
dropped off to sleep. Suddenly1 he

sprang to his feet nnd ran to the

was raptdwly becoming exhausted.
Without a moment's hesitation
young Hustace threw off his coat,
nnd, seizing n surf board, made Ills
way towards the drowning man.
The unfortunute at once tried to
grnli Hiistnco as lie approached, but
the veteran In life saving thrust the
surf board between himself and the
frantic stranger. The board was
Immediately grasped by the frantic
man, and Hustucu calmly swam to
shore, shoving the plank and its
burden ahead. The man quickly re
covered and soon afterwards depart
ed for town. He was profuse In his
thanks for 1 1 list ace's gallant action,
but did not care to give his name.
The present life saver has now
two lives to his credit, the next boy
three, and the joungest of the fam
ily Is following In his older brothers'
footsteps and can nt present lay
claim to saving one mail from a wa
tcry grave.
