, BIRDS. FOWLS. FRUIT. VEGE
TABLES AND OTHER.FO0DS IN
THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HO
NOLULU, PROVIDING FOR THE
INSPECTION' OF' SUCK ARTIj
CLES. AND PROVIDING FOi
THE APPOINTMENT OF AND
DEFINING THE DUTIES OF, IN

TY OF HONOLULU.
Section 1. No tnlncd or decayed
meat, fish, birds or fowls, fruit or
cgctnblcs, nor other food, which Is
tiqt henlthy,, fresh, sound, whole
borne nnd fit and safo for human
food, nor nny meat or fish that has
died from disease, shall be brought
Into or offered for sale as food, or
kept in any public or private 'mar
ket within tho City nnd County ot
Honolulu. l
Section 2. All public and prlvato
markets in tho City and County of
Honolulu, together with all tools,
machinery and nppurtennnccs con
nected therewith, and all articles
therein exposed or offered for salo
as food or drink, and tho contents of
all lce-chcsts nnd refrigerators In
which any kind of food or drink is,
or may bo kept for sale, shall bo
subject at all reasonable hour to
tho Inspection ot tho City and
County Phjslclan, nnd the Inspec
tors nnd other offlcera ot tho City
nnd County.
Section" 3. No person shall ex
pose or offer for sale, or shall sell
or en u ho or allow to bo used as food
or drink nny nrtlclo which has been
condemned by tho City and County
Ph)slcinn, or, by any Inspector of
the City nnd County.
Section 4, Tho stalls, floors,
grounds nnd appurtenances In and
nbout all markets or other places
where any article Is kept or offered
for salo as food or drink, shall be
Kept In n cleanly and wholesome,
condition, free from accumulations
or deposits ot manure or filth of
any kind.
Section Ii. Any bad or badly cur
ed meat or nny substance which
is emitting n noxious, deleterious
effluvium shall bo forthwith re
moved by the owner thereof from
the premises whero stored, upon no
tlco by tho City and County Phy-
slcla nor Inspector of tho City and
County.
If. after such notlco such owner
shall neglect or fall to remove tho
same, the same shall bo removed by
such inspector at the expense of tho
owner thereof.
Section 6. Tho Hoard of Su -
pcrvlsors ot the City nnd County ot
Honolulu shall appoint suitable per-
ions a
s Meat and Food. Fish and
other
inspectors, as may bo neces-J
snry to carry out tho provisions ot
this Ordinance, The salaries ot such
Inspectors shall be fixed by the
Hoard of Supervisors. Bnld Inspec
tors shall liavj: all tho powers, and
bhall perform all ot tho duties pro
vided In this Ordinance, and shall
have Biifli other powers nnd perform
such other duties na may be here
after prescribed by tho Hoard of
Supervisors.
Section 7. It shall be the
duty of tho City and County Phy
sician to exercise practical super
vision In respect to Buch Meat and
Pool, I'lHh nnd other Inspectors, nnd
Laid Meat and Food, Fish and 'other
Inspectors shall bo subject to tho di
rections at all times ut said City
nnd County I'hjslclan.
Section 8. , It shall bo tho duty
ot the Fish Inspector to examine
and Inspect all fish, oysters, clams,
lobsters, crabs and other marlno
products kept or offered for salo
ulthln his district, and It upon such
Inspection, said Inspector shall find
nny of said fish or marlno products
to bo in an unsound, diseased or un
wholesome condition, it shall bo his
duty to prohibit their sale; an'd tho,
nald Fish Inspector Is hereby au
thorized, cmpoVorcd,and directed to
condemn, seize and removo any un
sound, diseased or unwholesome fish,
oysters, clams, lobbters, crabs or
other marine products which may bo
offered for salo as food within his
said district. ,
Section 0, That In the per
formance of his duties as prescribed
by this Ordlnanco the Fish Inspec
tor shall bo, and Is horeby author
ized and empowered to board all
bouts, vessels, steamboats and cars,
and to stop all vehicles believed, by
him tb contain fish or other marlno
products, for tho purposo ot enforc
ing the provisions ot this Ordinance.
Said Fish Inspector Bhall make a re
port of hi sofflclal doings, weekly, to
tho City and County Physician.

nolulu, excepting at tho now mar
ket building and such other places
ns shall bo specially permitted by
tho Doaid ot Supervisors, where fish
nnd other marlno products may be
exposed for sale under, the supervi
sion ot the Fish Inspector.

or vegetables offered for sale, and

from any other cause rendered unlit

offlclat doings, weekly, to tho City
and County Physician t '
Section 12. All fish left unsold,
nt any market, at 6 o'clock p. m. on
tho evening of nny dny shall bo In
spected by the Pish Inspector, and
If found In proper condition may bo
placed In cold storage. Such fish
on being again offered for sale shall
be labeled na "Iced Fish." '
Section 13. It shall be tho
duty ot tho Meat n'nd Food Inspector

food, or "kept in any slaughter

by this Ordinance, but with respect

he shall forbid tho sale, thereof, Unit
order that the same be, act aside,
and shall at once notify tjie City
and County Phalclnn ot such ac

same be condemned, nnd the sale
thereof forbidden, PROVIDED, no
nrtlclo of food offered or kept for
salo In a decajed or offensive con
dition, shall bo allowed to remain
where found, but the same shall be
caused to bo removed forthwith by
the inspector or officer aforesaid.
Section in. It shall bo unlawful
for any person to transport nny
beef, mutton, veal, pork or tho car
cass ot any nnlmnl used for 'food, or
nny fish or other marine product,
along any public street, Unless such
article bo so covered, or unless tho
vchlclo in which It Is transported be.

t'ect such article from dust and dirt,
and so that the Batue may not be ex-
ioscd to view.
Sectlo.i 1C. Any person who
snail moiesi. ninuer or in any man
lier prevent nny Inspector or other
officer from performing any duty
imposed upon him by tho provisions
of this Ordinance, and any person
who shall violate any ot the provis
ions ot this Ordinance, shall bo
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof ,shall
bo punished by a fine ot not less
than $10 nor moro than $250, or
by Imprisonment for a term not ex
ceeding three months or by both
such fine nnd Imprisonment. j
Section 17. This Ordlnnnce shall
take effect from nnd after tho date
ot Its approval.
