TABLES AND OTHER FOODS IN

NOLULU, PROVIDING FOR THE
INSPECTION OF SUCH ARTI
CLES, AND PROVIDING FOR
THE APPOINTMENT OF AND
DEFINING THE DUTIES OF IN

Section 1. No tnlntcd or dccncd
mc.it, fish, birds or fowls, fruit or
vegetables, nor other food, which Is
not healthy, fresh, sound, wholc
somo and fit and safe for human
food, nor any meat or fish that has
died from disease, shall be brought
Into or offered" for sale as food, or
Kept In nny public or prlvate mar
ket within the City and County of
Section 2. All public and private
markets In tho City and County of
Honolulu, together with alt tools,
machinery and appurtennnces con
nected therewith, and all articles
therein exposed or offered for sale
as food or drink, and the contents
ot all Ice-chests and refrigerators In
which any kind of food or drink Is,
or mny be kept for Bale, shall bo
subject at all reasonable h'bura to
the Inspection ot the City and
County Physician, and tho Inspec
tors and other officers ot the City
Section 3. No person shall ex
loio or offer for sale, or shall sell
or cause or allow to be used as food
or drink any article which linn been
condemned by the' City and County
I'hyslclan, or by nny Inspector ot
the City and County.
Section 4. Tho stalls; floors,
grounds and appurtenances In and
about all ninrkcts and other places
where any article Is kept or offered
for sale as food or drink, shall be
kept In a cleanly and wholesome
condition, tfrce.from accumulations
or deposits ot manure or filth ot

Section 8. It Bhall bo tho duty
ot tho Fish Inspector to examine
and Inspect all fish, oysters, clams,
lobsters, crabs and other murine
products kopt or offered for sale
within his district, and It upon such
Inspection, said Inspector shall find
any of said fish or marlno products
to bo in an unsound, diseased or tin
wholcsomo condition, It shall be his
duty to prohibit their sale; and tho
said Fish Inspector Is hereby au
thorised, empowered and directed to
condemn, seize and icniovo any un
bound, diseased or unwholesome Qsh,
oysters, clams, lobsters, crabs or
other marlno products which may be
offered for sale as food within his
Section 9. That In the per
formance of his ttutles as proscribed
by this Ordinance, the Fish Inspec
tor shall be, nnd Is hereby author
ized and empowered to board all
boats, vessels, steamboats and cars,
und to stop nil vehicles believed by
him to contain fish or other marine
products, for the purposo ot enforc
ing tho provisions ot this Ordinance.
Said Fish Inspector shall make a re
port of his official doings, weekly, to
tho City and County Physician,.
Section 10. The sale ot flBh

Section It. That It shall bo
the duty of tho Meat nnd Food In
spector to attend the market or mar-
kols vilthln lilt Inspection district
every morning at the (Inio When the
sales commence, nnd carefully ("-,
sped nil meat, birds or fowls, fruit
or vegetables offered for sale, and
condemn, seize or cause to' bo re
moved Mich as,may bo diseased, or
from any other cause rendered unlit

spector shnll make n report of bis
official doings, weekly, to the City
and County Phjslclan.
Bectlon 12. All fish left unsold,
at nny market, at 6 o'clock p, m. on
the evening of nny day, shall be In
spected by the Klsh Inspector, and
If found In proper condition may bo
ulaccd In. cold storage. Such fish
on being, again offered for sale shall
be labeled as "Iced Flsn."
Section 13. It shall bo the
duty of thc.Mcnt and Food Inspector
and the Fish inspector to reepec

fowls, fruit or vegetables, and othor
articles kept or offered for sale e
food, or kept in any siaugnter
bouse or public or, private market
within tho District of said Inspector,
ond to condemn such 'ns -Is not
healthy, fresh, sound, wholesome
and fit and safe for human food.
The Meat and Food Inspector shall
hao power to prohibit the, slaugh
tering of any animal for human food
which Is diseased or otherwlso unfit
for human, consumption. .It shall
bo unlawful for any person to sell
the carcass or any portion thereof
of any animal so condemned for hu
man consumption. ,w
Section 14. That upon any
meat, fish, birds- or fowls, fruit or
vegetables, or other article of food
being found by any Inspector or
other officer ot the City and. County
of Honolulu In a condition which Is
In his Judgment unwholesome and
unfit, for use as human food, or In a
condition or of a quality forbidden,
by this Ordlnance.but with respect
to the quality and condition ot
which articles of food said Inspec
tor or other officer may bo In doubt,
he shnll forbid the sale thereof, and
order that the same be set aside,
and shall at once notify the City
and County Physician ot such ac
tion. The City nnd County Physi
cian shall thereupon Inspect said ar
ticles nnd determine whether the
same be condemned, and the sale
thereof forbidden, PROVIDED, no
article of food offered or kept for
sale In a decayed or offensive con
dition, shnll bo allowed to remain
where found, but tbn same shall be
caused to be removed forthwith by
the Inspector or officer aforesaid.
Section IS. It .shall be unlawful
for any person 'to transport nny
beef, mutton, veal, pork or the car
cass qf any animal used forfood, or
any fish, or other marine wroduct,
along any public street, unlls such
article be to covered, or unless the
vehicle In which it Is transported be
BOj constructed na to entirely pro
tect such article frqm dust and dirt,
and so thnt the same may not be ex
posed to view.
Section 1C. Any person who
shall molest, hinder or In any man
ncr prevent nny Inspector or other
officer from performing nny duty
Imposed upon him by the provisions
ot this Ordinance, nnd any person
who shall violate any of the provis
ions of this Ordinance shall bo decnl-
cd guilty of a misdemeanor, nnd upon

more than $250, or by Imprisonment
for a term not exceeding three
