Henry Wetherlll, which occurred somo
tlmo back, and for which "Walklkl"
has been sent up to tho Grand Jury,
uro lu nbout tho samo statu as before
Cummlngs and McCnndlcss nro still
detained nt tho pollco station for In
vestigation, and also so as to bo on
hand as witnesses when tho charge
against "Walklkl" Is gone Into.
It will bo remembered that Cum
mlngs and McCaiidless wero set at
liberty a few weeks back, but tho po
lice, suspecting that tho two men
might not bo on hand when tho "Wal
klkl" trial came, up, took them Into
custody onco more, so as to bo certain
of their presence at tho Grand Jury
Investigation.
Neither man has mado any further
statement In regard to tho crlmo for
which "Walklkl" Is to bo tried and
they still maintain that they wero not
on tho spot when Wetherlll was killed.
No cbargo baa been laid against
tho two men; they aro simply held
as witnesses. It Is, however, thought
that ono or tho other of tho men will
come through with a completo con
fession that will clear up tho mys
tery ot WethorlU'a death.
