Many of the field maps, which the
various detachments of Engineers ate
making throughout the Island, hne
been recolved at fort Do Russy within
the last few days. The military mir
ey, upon which these troops are en
gaged, Is In connection with tho pio
grcsslvc maps of the United States
now being completed by the Waf" De
partment. The Engineers' station on
this Island, -Altli the main enmp nt
Fort De Knssy, are making a complete
Instrumcntnl survey of Oahu and the
man. when completed, will uc a per
fect detail of all portions of the Island.
Dcslde the camp at Fort Do hussj the
Engineers nro stationed at Pearl City,
.Lelleliua. Kahuku, Wnlanne and Ka-
hana. The survey notes and fluid
sketches of these detachments are all
sent to Fort De Hussy, where the com
plete map Ik plotted, and the details
transferred to paper. The Biirvey will
require n number of months' work
still before tho map will bo completed
and tho Engineers abte to return to
The entertainments for the Christ
mas holidays are well under way and
