WASHINGTON, D. C, Mar. 1G. The bill to amend the Orgnnlc Act
of Hawaii, ns passed by the Haw at Inn legislature, is now almost cer
tain to pans Congress, with some minor amendments, among them being
changes of Balary schedule. The measure was discussed today In tho
House Committee on Territories, nnd the trend of tho discussion indi
cated n unanimous report in favor of the bill.
Opposition developed to tho section providing thnt tho Legislature
may lonn public money to hnmesto nders and guarantee loans of corpor
ations for Increase of transportation facilities. This section was
Btrickeh out by the Senate. Tho House commltteo will settle the ques
tion at Its next meeting. i
The bill has already passed the Senate, and today's discussion by
the House committee foreshadowed a unanimous report In favor at It,
excepting tho loans proposition,
