ANNOUNCED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. INDUSTRY IN THE WORK OF SECURING SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE GREATER STAR WILL BE REWARDED BY MEANS OF A NUM

How To Start
Nominations" of Contestants will he received hy the CONTEST DEPARTMENT OR THE
HAWAIIAN STAR every day except Sunday.
Nominations may he sent hy mail or left at THE STAR Office, McCandlcss Building,
It is required that the prospective contestant's nomination he made by a second per
son, lady or: gentleman, subject to approval and acceptance by the Contest Manager.
Nominations will close at 5 P. M. sharp, October 20th, and the full list of Contestants will
be published the following day.
Basis of Campaign
THE HAWAIIAN STAR has gone ahead by leaps and bounds since the first of Febru
ary last. Its size has been inccrcascd from Eight to Twelve Pages Daily, with a big Satur
day edition of from Twenty to Twenty-Eight Pages. It is the biggest and Best Balanced
Newspaper the Hawaiian Islands have ever known. During its period of development, no
strenuous effort has been made to gain for it the Wider Circulation which its Character
and Force lias justified,' although' the Circulation has more than doubled since February 1,
last ,and the start is now to be- made. In the next few weeks it is hoped and expected
that THE GREATER STAR will find its way into every home in the Islands, and prove a wcl
, come guest at each calling place.
The great 'contest 'Will be in charge of Mr. George F.
Hcnshall, City ,Editor of THE HAWAIIAN STAR, who is
prepared to answer any question concerning entries, person
ally or by letter, as far as the rules will permit.
Each candidate whose nomination is accepted by, the
Contest Manager will be entitled to 5000 nominating votes.
This complimentary allotment will be the foundation upon
which the competition will be based. In order that' your name
may be placed upon the roll, have a friend FILL OUT AND
ENCLOSE the nominating coupon appearing daily in THE
HAWAIIAN STAR to the Contest Manager without delay.
The office of the Manager of the Contest will be in the
main editorial room of THE HAWAIIAN STAR, McCandlcss
Building, Bethel Street. A neat sign over the window des
ignates the spot. The Manager will he on hand there each
day from 8 a. m. to a late hour in the afternoon.
