Church was in from Bock yesterday. She is enjoy ing good health this summer. Mr. and Mrs. Sam- Moore have greatly improved their house on First avenue, and have moved into it Chas. Linton came up Saturday to assist his uncle, Dr. Cook, in bringing, up Mrs. Cook's young driving team. Inga Martenson died Monday night from prostration by heat two months ago. She lived with her brothers here, and was very kind and liked by all. MINNESOTA State Normal Schools A Winona, Mankato, St. CloM ani Moor- These schools are organized for the training of teachers for public schools of the State. ORGANIZATION Each school comprises two departmentsthe Normal Department and the Training Department or Model School. The Normal Department embraces: (a) A Elementary Course for teachers of rural districts and elementary grades. (b) An Advanced Com se for teachers of ad vanced grades (c^ A Professional Course for teachers who have completed the required academic work elsewhere (d) A Kindergarten Training Course (at Win ona, St Cloud and Mankato). ADMISSION.Graduates of high schools and colleges, and teachers holding county superin tendents' first and second grade certificates are admitted without examination. AH others are required to pnss an entrance examination. EXPENSES Tuition is free to all who pledge ttaeiHbehes to teach Minnesota. Text books are furnished at a rental of $3 per year. Pro vision is made in each school for economical living The average cost of furnished rooms with board is abont $3 per week. The Ladies' Home at St Cloud offers board, furnished room, heat and light, at $3 per week. The new Dormitory at Moorhead, for same ac commodations $3 50 per week. DIPLOMAS By a recent act of the legislature, a diploma becomes a State teachers' certificate of the first grade. The next school year opens at Winona, Angust 31st at Mankato, August 30th at St. Cloud, August 28th at Moorhead, September 4th.
