OFFICIAL Proceedings of Board of County Com* missioners of Mille Lacs County. AUDITO RS OFFICE. Mille Lacs County, Minn. Princeton, July 9th. 1906. Board of County Commissioners met in annual session according to law, with all members present. In the matter of the hearing on the petition of Peter Franklin the follow ing' order was made and adopted by a unanimous vote of the board: Whereas, the petition of Peter Franklin, a freeholder of school dis trict No. 30 in this county, with the ap proval of the county superintendent endorsed thereon, representing that he is the owner of the lands herein after described, which are situate in said school district, and that said lands adjoin school district No. 13, and asking that his said lands may be set off from said district No. 30 to said district No. 13 for the following reasons: That petitioner has two children of school age, and that the school house in petitioner's present district is about two and one-half miles distant from petitioner's home on the hereinafter described lands, while the school building in district No. 13 is less than one mile distant from petitioner's home: that it is a hardship for petitioner's children to attend school in their present district, was presened to the board of county commissioners of this county, at a session of said board held on the 16th day of March, A. D. 1906, for the ac tion of said board thereon and Whereas, it was ordered by said board that a hearing should be had on said petition at a session of said board commencing on the 9th day of July, A. D. 1906, at the county audi tor's office in the village of Princeton, in said county and Whereas, it was further ordered in and by said order that notice of the time and place of such hearing be given by posting a notice of said hearing in one public place in each of the school districts to be affected by said petition, and by serving upon the clerk of each of said school dis tricts, personally, a copy of said notice, at least ten days before the time appointed for such hearing: and Whereas, at the said session of said board of county commissioners, com mencing on said 9th day of July, A. D. 1906, due proof of the posting and service of said noitce of hearing as therein directed and required, more than ten days prior to said last named date, having been made and filed, said petition was publicly read and considered by the board, with every thing which was said by said inter ested parties for or against granting the prayer of the petitioner, and said board being of opinion that the prayer of the petitioner should be granted, It is hereby ordered and determined, that the following described lands owned by him, to-wit: The west half (WK) of the southwest quarter (SWM) of section thirty (30), township thirty eight (38,) range twenty-six (26), be and the same are hereby set off from said school distinct No. 30 to said school district No. 13, and said lands are hereby made a part of said last named school district for all pur poses whatever. [Auditor's Seal.] In the matter of the hearing on the petition of Frank Bergstrom the fol lowing order was made and unani mously adopted: Whereas, the petition of Frank Bergstrom, a freeholder of school district No. 30 in this county, with the approval of the county superintend ent endorsed thereon, representing that he is the owner of the lands herein after described, wihch are situate in said school district, and that said lands adjoin that certain land owned by Peter Franklin, which lands of Peter Franklin now adjoin school district No. 13, and which lands the said Peter Franklin has petitioned the board of county commissioners to have set off from school district No. 30 and to be annexed to school district No. 13, and asking that his said lands may be set off from said district No. 30 to said district No. 13 for the fol lowing reasons: That he has thiee children of school age, and that the school house in petitioner's present district is about two and one-quarter miles distant from peitioner's home, while the school building in district No. 13 is only about one mile distant from petitioner's home: that in going from petitioner's home to the school house in district No. 30, petitioner's children are obliged to travel three fourths of a mile without any road whatever, through fields and mea dows: that there is a good road from petitioner's home to the school house in district No. 13 that it is a hard ship for petitioner's children to attend school in their present district, was presented to the board of county commissioners of this county, at a session of said board held on the 16th day of March, A. D. 1906, for the ac tion of said board thereon and Whereas, it was ordered by said board that a hearing should be had upon said petition at a session of said board commencing on the 9th day of July, A. [Auditor's Seal.] On motion duly made and carried by a unanimous vote of the board, the hearing on the petition for the forma tion of a new school district out of a portion of the territory belonging to school district No. 3 was again con tinued to the next session of the board. On motion the petition of Wm. Almquist and others for the formation of a new school district out of a por tion of the territory comprising school district No. 14 was laid over until the next session. On motion the petition of Simon Demi and others for the formation of a joint school district between Mille Lacs and Benton counties was rejected by a unanimous vote of the board. Application of Mary E. Northway for correction of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1905 on tract described in book of deeds, page 625, in section 4. townhship 37, range 27, was presented to the board, and on motion made and carried by a unanimous vote, the said application was recommended for approval. Application being made to the board by A. E. Batchelder, for cor rection of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1904 on the north west quarter of'southeast quarter of section 13, township 38, range 27, on motion the board unanimously recom mended the approval of said applica tion. On presentation of an application by Sjoblom & Olson, asking for cor rection of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1904 on the north 26 feet of lot 2, in block 6, of Damon's Addition to Princeton, on motion the board voted unanimously to recommend that said application be approved. Application of Minnie Larson, ask ing for correction of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1905 on lot 1, in block 3, of Cater's Second Addition to Princeton, was presented to the board, and on motion duly made and carried by a unanimous vote, the said application was recom mended for approval. On motion the application of Samuel Mattson for correction of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1905 on lot 6, in block 1, of Lawrence, was laid over for further conisdera tion. Barnard & Co., $24.00: and Harry Shockley, $40.00. On motion duly made and carried by a unanimous vote, the claim of E. M. Farnham amounting to $161.47, for labor and material for bridge, was rejected, the same having been unauthorized by the board. It appearing to the satisfaction of the board of county commissioners that there are funds in the hands of the county treasurer, amounting to $2,541.86, to the credit of the railroad bonds interest and sinking fund, and that the railroad bonds and interest, for the payment of which said funds were levied and collected, have been fully paid and satisfied, on motion duly made and carried by a unani mous vote, it was ordered by the board that the said sum of $2,541.86 be transferred from said railroad bonds interest and sinking fund to the revenue fund of the county, and that all unpaid taxes levied for the pay ment of said bonds and interest be credited to said county revenue fund when collected. On motion made and carried unani mously, the board authorized the pay ment and cancellation of Mille Lacs county funding bonds numbered 3 to 10, both inclusive, amounting to $4,000, and the county auditor was instructed to communicate with the state auditor and request the sur render of said bonds. The following bonds of depositories for county funds were presented to the board, and on motion the said bonds and the sureties thereon were ap proved by a unanimous vote: Bond of the Security State Bank of Princeton, in the sum of $5,000. Bond of the Bank of Princeton, in the sum of $5,000. Bond of the Milaca State Bank, in the sum of $5,000. On motion duly made and seconded, the following amounts were unani mously voted by the board to be levied on the taxable property of the county for the ensuing fiscal year, the same being on the expenses of the county for the past year as reported by the county auditor, to be levied for the different funds in amounts as fol lows: County revenue fund $12,000 County poor fund 3,000 County road and bridge fund 7,000 County 1 mill school tax 2,250 Total levy for county purposes. $24,250 On motion of Geo. H. Deans the board voted unanimously to author ize the expenditure of the sum of four thousand five hundred dollars ($4,500) for the construction and repair of roads and bridges in the county, to be expended as follows: $500 in the town of Princeton $500 in the town of Greenbush $500 in the town of Milo $500 in the town of Milaca $500 in the town of Bogus Brook $500 in the town of Borgholm $150 in the town of Page $150 in the town of Hayland and $1,200 in the Fifth com- jungly .^^^^^^^^i Jas ll.l,mM1il.|Ml mmm^unp in liiiitiTrlfiifiir missioner district. All of said amounts to be expended under the supervision of the county commis sioner in whose district said sums are authorized to be expended, and all warrants issued in payment of the same to be drawn on the county road and bridge fund. In the matter of the affidavit and bond filed by O. J. Bergman for the purpose of securing a duplicate of county warrant No. 6214, issued in favor of said O. J. Bergman January 18th, 1906, for $39.73, which warrant has been lost and cannot be found, on motion the bond accompanying said affidavit and the sureties thereon were duly approved, and the county auditor authorized and instructed to issue to the said O. J. Bergman a duplicate of said warrant No. 6214. On presentation of a petition pray ing for the change of a highway in section 5, township 36, range 27, which petition was determined by the board by the judgment of a majority of its members to be reasonable on its face, an order was made and filed granting a hearing on said petition at Prince ton, in said county, on Wednesday, the 15th day of August, 1906. at 2 o'clock p. m., at which time and place said board will hear all that may be said in favor of, and against, the granting of said petition, and the members of this board were appointed a committee to examine the proposed change of said road, and that said committee meet upon the route of said road at Frank Reibestein's place in the town of Greenbush, in said county, on Monday, the 6th day of August, 1906, at 10 o'clock a. m., for the pur pose of examination of said proposed change of said road, and make report thereof at the meeting of said board hereinbefore specified, and that no tices of said hearing be given and posted as provided by law.
