Miss Lilhe Eggert, who has been visiting for some time at Mapleton, returned home on Saturday evening. The Misses Hattie, Versalia and Beatrice Hofferbert and Virgie Crumm called on Miss Letha Young on Sunday. Giles Ellsworth had the misfortune to lose one of his horses on Sunday, it being kicked badly by one of the other horses. Mrs. H. E. Jones spent Sunday at the Oscar Swedberg home. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Niesen and son and Yallie Niesen and Eddie Flack called at the Hofferbert home on Fridav evening. Several of the ladies were pleas antly enteitained at the Oscar Swed berg home on Thursday afternoon. Miss Florence Swedberg has been helping Mrs. Nelson the past few days. Egnar Nelson and Thos. Niesen spent Saturday at Ann lake. Edith Nehing who, has been \isit ing at the Jas. Westling home, le turned to Bock on Sunday. Wm. Hofferbert, who has been as sisting in the Milaca postofflce dur ing the past two weeks, is spending a few dajs at home Mr and Mrs. Wm. Hofferbert and family spent Sunday at the Chas. E. Johnson home John Hedin was a county seat visitor on Monday. The Misses Delia Rowland and Myrtle Reinke called at the A. P. Lindstrom home on Sunday. The ball game that was scheduled to be played between the Bogus Brook and CNeil teams on Sunday was postponed to a later date. Mr. and Mrs. A. Haskell and fam ily and Mr. Bloom of Milaca called at the N. O. Nelson home on Sunday evening. The dance on Saturday evening was not very well attended on ac count of the inclement weather. Mr. and Mrs. John Pool of Bock spent Sunday at the Jas Westling home. Emmet Schields returned to his home at Spring Valley on Wednes day. MUDGETT. Chas. Sopper of Ada is a guest at the A. Spencer home Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Jones visited friends in Pease last Wednesday. No teacher has as yet been en gaged to teach the coming term of school in district 39, and applica tions have been scarce. Mrs. Lund, who has been visit ing at the home of her son, J. B. Lund, left for her home in Owa tonna last Saturday. Russell Baker returned home from Des Moines, Iowa, last Wednesday. The town board of Mudgett got out a crew of men last Monday to re pair several bad places in the road. Mudgett and Emil Mollan ob served Good Roads Day again last Friday when they contributed an other day's work towards fixing up some of the bad places in the town of Page so that people from this way could get to town without breaking their necks There are several other places in the same town that are sadly in need of repairs Friends here have received cards announcing the marriage of Miss Mabel Jones to Chas. Kindler in Grand Rapids, June 22. Mrs. Kind ler was the first teacher in district 39 when the school was organized three years ago. We extend our heartiest congratulations. LONG SIDING. Henry Uglem transacted business in Princeton on Monday. Miss Clara Larson returned home on Mondaj after a few days' visit with her friend, Miss Bessie Lesher. Mrs. M. A. Carlson and Miss Mor lan visited friends here on Sunday evening. Andrew Larson and Peter Olson attended the memorial services of the Odd Fellows at Princeton Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Lipp visited friends in Princeton on Sunday. We are sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Hanson which occurred last Thursday afternoon. Quite a number ._&om Jh_erg attended the funeral. On Monday the streets were crowded with teams equal to Prince ton according to the size. S. A. Miller and family are mov ing into their new house this week. TArthur Larson and Gust Thorn quist went to the cities on Tuesday. SPENCER BROOK. Miss Violet Peterson is spending a few days in Mora visiting friends. Ben House and Earl Thompson spent Saturday and Sunday visiting in Rush City. Mrs. J. R. Medin was taken very sick last week, and was taken to the hospital Tuesday and operated upon the same day for some stomach ail ment. She was doing nicely when last heard fiom. Mrs. M. L. Severance arrived here last Thursday from Friday Harbor, Wash., where she has been living the past three years Carlton Smith of Cambridge is over to the Brook visiting friends and relatives. Visitors at C. E. Severance's last Sunday wereG. C. Smith and family, E. E. Ellingwood and family and J. O. McKenzie and family. Billy Walker of this town and Louise Hurtt of Zimmerman were married last Friday. They expect to reside on the Walker farm. A dance will be given at the hall Friday evening. July 2. Princeton orchestra will furnish the music. GREENBUSH. Three cheers for the Fourth of July' Attorney Knobel of Minneapolis was entertained at supper at Henry Forster's on Monday. Ed Quinland made a business trip to Milaca on Tuesday Agnes and Edward Anderson have gone to Buffalo for a visit. Theodore Forster called at Hard ing's on Sunday Randi and Edward Pederson trans acted business in Princeton on Mon day. Contractor John Pederson is busy ditching for H. Forster. and Bill Lisky in ditcning for Theo. Forster. John Anderson and Robert Shaw are busy doing road work. Arvel Gennow spent Sunday at the Hartman home. There seems to be quite an attraction for him there. How about it, John? Olaf Pederson was a pleasant visitor at Henry Forsters' on Sun day. Miss Labbissonniere visited her friend, Mrs. Forster, on Monday. Mr. Mahler gave another one of those big times, at his barn on Satur day evening, and a large crowd was present in spite of the rain Every one had an enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs Theodore Forster and family spent Sunday at Reibestein's. Eckberg Bros, have closed theii mill here. Mr. and Mrs. H. Forster and fam ily spent Sunday at Quinland's. OXBOW. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steeves spent Sunday at the home of Leon Annis. Mr. and Mrs. James Tomlinson and Hugo Grapentine were enter tained at John Gates' last Thursday evening. Mrs. Mary Hall spent a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Steeves, recently. Lillian Lungren and the Misses Henschel visited at Otto Grapent ine's Sunday. Webb's brother and sister and families, and mother from Iowa were visiting him for a time re cently. Hans and Lewis Rust were fixing the telephone wires Monday. We are at last getting some corn weather and the corn and other crops are improving. Work is still going on at the grade across Cartwheel marsh. Sherburne county will vote on county option on July 12. Let every voter turn out and vote and see if we can't follow the example set by Mille Lacs and other counties and close up the public nuisance flourish ing along our public road. We understand Hollis Vetsch's house burned to the ground, with everything in it, one day last week. The ball game between Baldwin and Blue Hill was won by the latter team. ZIMMERMAN. Harry Pratt went to Hudson, Wis., last Friday and purchased a bulldog. Harry wants to hire a cheap man to take care of the animal as he is very dangerous. J. O. Nyberg, Irvin Jennison and the Misses Nora and Lilly Stendahl autoed to Minneapolis Sunday and returned Monday. A. R. Berglund and wife returned from their auto trip through the northern part of the state and Canada last Saturday. They were accompanied home by their sister*. Mr. Berglund says the sandy soil is good enough for him to travel on. Henry Swanson and wife of Oak Park were visiting friends in town Sunday. Andrew Carter has finished his road work at St. Cloud and returned home Sunday. Miss Louise Hurtt and Wm. Walker were married at Parker Lake, Minneapolis, on Friday, June 25. We wish the young couple a long and happy future. J. O. Nyberg and P. V. Malm drove to Foley last week. Mrs. Jack Larsen and son, Jesse, of Foley were visiting friends here Sunday. Ben Robson has sold his farm to a man from the southern part of the state. Quite a number from here attended the circus at Elk River Monday. They report it very good. The Zimmerman base ball boys de feated the Minnehaha Merchants Sunday by a score of 8 to 10. Our boys are playing good ball now and are not afraid to meet any of them. Miss McDermott of Ryder, N. visited Mrs. B. A. Kettelson last week. From here she went to Menahga to visit a sister. Lyle Iliff spent Sunday here with relatives. The M., E. Ladies' Aid society will meet with Mrs. Chas. Hiller next Friday afternoon. Mr. Peabody of Oak Park visited his daughter, Mrs. Nash, last week. Miss Eva Ross of Princeton was in town Tuesday giving elocution lessons. Mrs. Arthur Neumann entertained three xt her sisters from Stillwater over Sunday. The families of R. E. Lynch, Bert Iliff and Earl Iliff, and Miss Bean autoed to St. Cloud Sunday to visit Miss Burns. Nelson King has bought a Ford automobile as have the Holman boys. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Steeves and baby autoed to St Cloud and back Sunday. We wonder what has become of our mail man. Mrs. Mathis is taking his place. We hear wedding bells and are all wondering where. Mr. and Mrs. W. Webb and family picnicked at the river Sunday. Warren Taylor and Jack Calvin were fishing at Spectacle lake Sat ruday and as it rained camped there for the night. Mr and Mrs. Harry Lambert and family and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson King and family visited at Will Thomas' Sunday. Mrs. Lafe Slaback, Zelda Brooks and Mrs. O. Hamilton went to the moving picture show at Princeton Friday evening. Mrs. Grace Fredrickson passed away Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at her parents' home here. The funeral was held Monday from the house and interment was in the Christian burial ground. Mrs. Frederickson leaves' a husband and two children to mourn her loss. O. Hamilton is shingling his house this week, and his brother, Sewall, is helping him. VINELAND. Fred McKay and family attended the shooting tournament at Brainerd last Saturday. Peter and Laura Evans visited at the Rogers home last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. Landahl of Little Falls arrived here last Saturday to spend a few days at their summer cottage at White Fish lake. Gilbert George returned to his home at St. Paul Wednesday. The people of 'this vicinity will celebrate the Fourth of July at Wig wam Bay, uly 3. Everybody come and have a good time1. Walter Peltier, Bob King, Kay Bockoven, Wm. Hanson and son, all of Princeton, arrived at Vineland Sunday morning from Wahkon, where they had tried their luck at Ashing. Not getting any fish there on account of poor bait they were a very disgusted bunch. After hiring an Indian guide at this place they departed for White Fish lake. Last we heard of them they had all the fish the law would allow them to catch. PEASE. The state bank inspector and L. Fouquette of Foley were here last Wednesday. The inspector was much pleased with Cashier Fouquette'sJ woik and complimented him on the amount of business being done by the institution. Jean Axel is now assistant in the bank. A baby boy arrived at the home of Jerry Timmer last Saturday. Kate Kuperus is assisting with the house work at Timmers'. The S. Meline family met with a serious accident last week. They had attended church and were cross ing the bridge on their way home when the horses became frightened at some planks which were piled on the bridge. All were thrown from the buggy, but Mr. Meline and Teddy were the only ones stunned. Teddy was pinned under the buggy and badly bruised. Dr. Cooney of Princeton was called. Ivan Pederson, the blacksmith, left last night to attend his brother's wedding at Hastings, and. will return on the evening of July 5. Mrs. Bleeker is having a dwelling erected near F. Timmer's. The cellar and foundation is now being made. Mrs. Bleeker has rented her farm. The creamery shipped 107 tubs of butter this week. Please remember that the creamery will be closed \Fuly 5. J. A. Jetsinga purchased a Reo au tomobile last week of L. Pederson of Milaca. S. DeBjoer traded his old automo bile in on a new Studebaker last week. i Mrs. A. J. Jetsinga is now able to be around. The Young People's society will give a Fourth of July celebration here July 5, on the grounds back of the church. The young men fixed up the picnic and ball grounds to day. Peter Pluimer and Mr. Baas went to Minneapolis Monday and returned Tuesday evening. F. Faber returned to his home at Orange City, Iowa, on Monday. He expects to move his family here in about two months, and open his store. Peter DeVries unloaded a carload of salt for the creamery this week. Henry Aldrink has been unloading lumber and cement for the Rudd Lumber Co. this week Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Jones of Mudgett visited at F. H. Bartelt's on Wednesday. Announcements of the wedding of Mabel Jones and Charles Kindler were received here last week. All Mabel's old friends wish them a long and happy married life. Remember the celebration which is to be held on the Leo Peter's farm in Woodward Brook on July 5. The celebration is being given by the Farmers'' club and is sure to be a success in every respect. Sterling Van Kleek has returned from an auto trip to Otter Tail and Stearns counties, where he visited relatives. He reports the crops here as better than those he saw while away. Corn is growing fast these hot days. Rye and oats look fine and prospects are that good crops will be harvested. LIVONIA. With the warm weather the past week crops in this vicinity are look ing fine. Mr. Emmons and son, Clarence! went to St. Paul Friday to meet Mr^ Emmon's sisters who are here visit ing from Illinois. A few from here attended the Ladies' Aid society meeting at the Magney home in Zimmerman last Wednesday. The families of Cohoes, Leonard and Haase picnicked at Blue lake Sunday. A number of young folks were en tertained at the James home Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Hoglund are enter taining company from Duluth. Mrs. Ed Smyth and Mrs. Emmons visited at the Leonard home on Wednesday atfernoon of last week. The church sale at the Borgen- home proved a success in spite of the storm. A neat sum was realized from the proceeds, and an enjoyable time was spent by those present. Word was received here that F. B. MacKenzie was married June 16 at Wahpeton. N. D., to Miss LUIS Moses of Battle Lake. Mr. McKenzie is well known here, having visited his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Cohoes, a number of times. His friends here & wish them a happy wedded life.
