What is this terrible disease?*j$j||i
W have taken the .trouble to ma ke
1 an investigation from 'tne'best sources
and we give tho results to our readers.
What astonishes us is the general in
difference given to kidney disorders.
The kidneys do hot sound the alarm (of
their diseased condition, owing to
the fact that they have very few nerves^
hence few suspect that there is any dis
ease in them,, limitation/inflammation
ulceiati6h
se"t in, and than'the ''Viiw
tubes, of which the kidneys are full,
are destroyed and thrown off, and from
tiiis fact are called tube casts.
A soon as this begins to take place
it is only a question of how fast decom-,
position goes on before the disease re
sults fatally. If the proper remedies
are taken before final decomposition or
waste of these tubes commences or be
comes too far advanced, that is the only
and last chance for relief. It
is at this point or before that
Warner's safe cure proves Mso
beneficial, and may cure or stop
the wasting away of the kidneys if
it has not advanced too far.
The most remarkable thing of all our
investigation is the fact that the parent
with Bright
1
4 /was well aware
that his disease was of the kidneys, and
expressed himself in indignant terms at
Ihe folly of the doctors in treating him
for rheumatism when it was the kidneys
that caused his attacks."
W have no doubt that very many
people in this country have the same
trouble as the General, but little import
an ce is attached to this malady by the
medical profession because of their in
ability to cope with it, either in its first
appearance Or advanced condition.
There appears to be some one cause
for nearly every other ailment of the
human system, but up to the present
time no one has been able to fully ac
count for this terrible malady. W un
derstand that the people of Germany
have become aware of its fearful fatal
ity, and, have offered 400,000 marks
(100,000) to anyone that can .satisfac^
tonly explain the cause.

disease has no exclusive
symptoms, but has the symptoms of
every common disease.
First ho may possibly feel a dull
pain in his back, generally upon one
side, which does not debar him from
his usual business routine. After a
time he may begin to feel neuralgic
pains, or have a slight attack of what
he may call rheumatism, or head
ache, with %igh or dark colored urine,
with an ungXeasant sensation in its pas
sage, ahd after standing showing "an
unnatural condition. Later on, come
tired feelings, loss of ambition or vigor,
or loss of or failing eye-sight, which is
very common, with a distressed condi
tion of Stomach. Any one of these
symptoms are liable to occur.
This no doubt accounts for the pro
prietors of Warner's safe cure curing
so ma ny diseases. regulatingr"'Wnd
building up the kidneys, symptoms of
general ill-health disappear. They
justly accuse the medical profession "of
treating the effects and not the cause.
Finally if this ^disorder is neglected the
patient dither dies, of apoplexy* pneu

sumption, or any other disease that the
system is most subject to.
It appears that Gen. Logan realized

A splendid opportunity is afforded
business' men .and mechanics at the

These towns have the advantage of
being located in an old, well-settled
country, and do not, like frontier towns,
have to wait until the country settles,
for business. They are surrounded by
as good farming land as there is in the
state. Good wood' can be had at two
or three cloHars per cord, delivered at
your door. ^The climate is as healthy
as can be. found anywhere. The
county is free from debt. It has only
one village containing over one thou
sand inhabitants, tin- population of the
county being about fifteen thousand.
Spicer is located on the shores of
Green Lake, a lake known and ac
knowledged to be one of the finest
in the state, seven miles long by five
miles wide. Th lake abounds With
fish of many varieties, among which
are Bass, Wall-eyed Pike, and the cel
ebrated fresh water Whitefish. I is
surrounded by timber except the small
opening on its southwest shore where
Spicer is located, and is entirely free
from mud and vegetation. It waters
are noted for purity. Even in the hot
test weather, the waters of the lake are
cool, on account of its depth and the
many springs flowing into it. Those
living on its border use it for drinking
and domestic" purposes during the whole
year. A large number of St. Paul and
Minneapolis citizens have sig

Jack Rabbits.
In Grant county, Ore., where the
bounty on jackrabbjt scalps is five cents
each, some of the farmers stretch a wire
screen jacross the prairie, the- screen
having meshes just Kir'ge enough for a
rabbit to stick his head through. Then
men and dogs round up the rabbits,
and.drjve.theni toward the screen, and,
in their hurry to escape, they stick their
heads through and are caught. Then
the farmers scalp the captives and let
them go hoping that each will raise
another five cent scalp before long.

There is a certain class of remedies for
constipation absolutely useless. These are
boluses and potions made in great part of
podqphyllm, aloes, rhubarb, gamboge, and
Other worthless ingredients^ The damage
'they do to the stomachs of those who use
them is incalculable. They evacuate the
bowels, it istrue, but always do so violent
ly and profusely, and besides, gripe the
bowels. Their effect is to weaken both
them and the stomach. Better far to use
the agreeable and salutary aperient, Hos
tetter's Stomach Bittei-3, the laxative effeot
of which is never preceded by. pain, or ac
companied by a-convulsive, violent action
of the bowels. On the contrary, it invigor
ates those organs, the stomach and the en
tire system. As a means of curing and
preventing malarial fevers, no medicine
can compare with it, and it remedies ner
vous debility, rheumatism, kidney and
bladder inactivity, and other inorganic ail
ments.
