Arrest of Jo. Smith. We learn from the
Quincy Whig that Jo. Smith, the Mormon
Prophet, has been arrested, under writ issued
by Gov, Carlin in compliance with a demand
made two years ago, by Gov. Boggs, on the
alleged charge of treason against the State
of Missouri. Smith applied to Judge Dou
glass for trftabeas corpus, w hich was granted,
and is not yet disposed of.
The Fiscal Acext. Alludiui? to the Re
port of Secretary of the Treasury, the Na
tional Intelligencer says Wc state for the

ry explicitly recommends the establishment
of a central fiscal institution, having the Ica-

FLOUR. The slight improvement in the
rdemand, noticed in our last Saturday's re
port, lias continued during the past few days,
and sales to a moderate extent have l-cen ef
fected, part for shipment to the West Indies,
but principally for the consumption of the
city, and of places in the vicinity. The
market, however, cannot by any means be
considered active, though holders are rather
more firm, and wc now quote $1 25 as the
prevailing price for good lots of superfine.

rels. PORK. We notice no change in prices
since our last, and still quote Mess at 11 00
