Tbe contract with John H. B. Latrobe, jr., of CORK SOLE GAITERS,
Baltimore, dated Jan. 2, 1875, is to the following
Albert B. Steinberger, being in possession of
contracts with various persons that promise to
be very profitable, aod contemplates forming ott
er contracts in tbe Samoan islandt, tberelore La
trobe agrees to accompany bim to said islands
aad to assist him in executing aaid contracts.
La! robe is to pet 25 per cent, of Steinberger 'e
profits. Should Steinberger succeed in estab
lishing a government on said islands, and to se
cure an office in which be will find himself able
to furnish bis friends with good positions, it shall
be obligatory on bim to award to Lalrobe the best
and most honorable office in said- government
that will lie in bis power, that is to say after
Steinberger hasmiUWy provided for himself. In
consideration whereof, Lot robe agrees to assist
Steinberger 10 lbe best of his abilitv in organiz
ing and establishing said government. In addi-f
lion to bis salary as an official of tbe Samoan
government and hit 25 per cent, of the profits,
Lalrobe is to receive from Steinberger a tollable
