lake possession and hold for the use uf the

sation to those whose land or water may be taken
or injuriously effected shall tie determined in like
manner as is provided in Section 2. 3, 4. 5, 6. and
7 of an Act approved on the latb day of August
1S60. entitled " An Act to authorize, tbe Mini
ler ol Interior to take possession of whatever
land and wafer may be required for tbe use of the
Uooolaiu Water Work;' and in case tbe land
and water necessary to be taker, and made u-o of

waiian Government, the Minister of Interior ia
hereby authorized to take aud use tbe tame for
such purposes without further proco-5. and with
out compensation to tbe Government.
Sec. 6. Upon completion of each or any of
tbe improvements authorized to be made by thi
Act. there shall be levied and collected for the
benefit of tbe Public Treasury a special tax upon
all lands directly benefited by the said improve
meats, the said tax lo be adjusted equitably per
acre: af colli. ated land, but in no cases to exceed
the sum ol two dollars per acre per annum, and
in case the improvements be the introduction of
aler for irrigating purposes, then not to exceed
the sum of eight duller pet annum for etch acre
of cultivated Ucds, and fur otter purposes such
a tax as may teem j 1st and equitable to said
Src. 7. The Minister of Finance is hereby
euthorixed to pay the reasonable travelling ex
penses of said commissioners and of such oS -en
as may accompany them while actually employed
in such service, aud these -mounts as well as the
damages that may be determined and awarded in
pursuance of Section 5 ol this Act. tball be paid

method of such Uses, at well as such other regu
lation at may be deemed reasonable and neces
prr. Six. 9 -On the adoption of any report by the
King; in Pr.vy Council, as provided oy Section 3
of that Act. if the lime be in reference to the
construction of any water course for tbe purpose
ot irvigkiioc, or for the famishing power for ibe
