Surp'rlse for Miss Davidson.' Miss Myrtle Davidson was the gueat of honor at a surprise party which waa given Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Weismann, 1210 Lelghton avenue, by the members of the choir of the Christian church. Miss Davidson has been a faith ful and efficient member of that organization, -having been the org anist for several years, and on the eve of her departure for Des Moines to enter Drake University, her friends and associates wished to express in some manner their appre ciation of her faithful and earnest work in the musical activities of the Christian church here. The members of the choir repaired to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Weismann after choir rehearsal Friday evening, and saw to Jt that Miss Davidson accompanied them. During the evening Mr. Roy Whaley presented Miss Davidson with a stu dent clock as a small token of the esteem in which Miss Davidson is held by the members of the choir and her many friends in this organization. Mrs. E. L. Aldrich will succeed Miss Davidson. State D. A. R. Conference. The call for the state D. A. R. con ference to be held in Cedar Rapids October 20-22 has been issued. The conference opens on Tuesday after noon. October 20, with a meeting of the state board of management. In thi First Christian church which will be the meeting place of the confer ence. On Tnesday evening a recep tion will be given at the home of Judge and Mrs. C. B. Robbins. Wednesday evening a musical pro gram will be given to which many Cedar Rapids people will be invited. Wednesday and. Thursday will be given to business sessions. Keokuk will be represented at the conference Mormonlam Is Tople. I The Woman's Missionary society of the First Westminster Presbyterian church will meet in the chapel on Monday afternoon. Mormonism is the topic for the day and Mrs. R. L. Reld will be the leader assisted by Mrs. John Collier, Mrs. L. H. Ayer, Mrs. E. R. Camp, Mrs. Jessie Mc Quoid and Mrs. F. A. Wedler. Johnsons Return Aonte. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Johnson, who have been visiting in Keoknk since July, left for their home in Long Beach, Friday evening. They were accompanied as far as St. Joseph and Havenswood, Mo., by Mr. and Mrs. Milton Johnson, who will visit in Mis souri for several days. Ladles of Charity Meeting. The Ladles of Charity will hold their regular monthly meeting In St. Vincent's ball this afternoon at 4 o'clock. This is the first regular meeting since June and a large at tendance is hoped for.
