Daily Stock Letter. [Copyright 1915 by the New York -i, Evening Post) NEW YORK, May 18.—On the sur face of things today's reaction in prices on the stock exchange was based on increasing doubts as to Ger many's acquiescences in the full terms of President Wilson's note. Such doubts, presumably, arose from the' cabled utterances in some usually In spired quarters of the German press possibly, also from argument on gen eral principles. That Germany's representatives in this country had warned the Berlin authority of the American state of mind on the recent outrages, was to some extent accerpted as a reassuring fact so was the extraordinary ovation of yesterday to President Wilson and the fleet, whose real meaning nobody in New York misunderstood. Prices opened to 1 point lower for many active stocks this morning and although the market was irregu lar the tendency was downward dur ing much of the day. Transactions were very light and the business done was mostly professional.
