Sand company of Keo kuk, Iowa, have their barge, boats, etc., safely in winter quarters in the Quincy bay. Workmen are engaged in setting up a big hoisting machine which will be used in the work of the company in the spring. The Keokuk firm is going Into the business In an extensive manner and expect to ship out many car loads of sand and gravel next year. —Quincy Herald: Lee Roberts, a private In Company F, was arrested on the street Saturday night by Cap tain Ernest Wingerter, the company commander, and taken before Lieuten ant Colonel C. D. Center, acting as summary court officer under regiment al orders, for trial. Private Roberts had been ordered by his commanding officer to report at the armory for drill on Monday, December 18. The order was Ignored. He was then or dered to report to the summary court, and that order was also ignored. His arrest followed. He was charged with having violated article 20 of section 7 of the military code of the state of Illinois, was found guilty and was fined |3, in default of which he was to serve three days In the county jail.
