"W. W. Erwin, Esq., of St. Paul, appeared before Judge Vanderberg yesterday and ap plied for a habeas corpus for the release of William Seymour. It will be remembered by the readers of the GLOBE that Seymour was brought from Independence last month charged with an attempt at rape upon Mattie Strand, an interesting looking girl of 17 years of age. Mr. Erwin's application was based upon insufficiency of evidence to hold his client. The judge listened to the learned counsel's argument, and concurred in it, but refused the application upon the ground that it would be a dangerous precedent. BOND ELECTION. The- beauty of the opera was greatly enhanced by the efficient orchestra of twelve instruments, six of George Seibert's, and an equal number of Operti's own. Miss Abbott added much to her popularity here by her rendition of the title role. -'The Harp in the Air" was exquisitely sung, and not less absorbing was her "Scenes that are Brightest." Miss Randall was a most pre possessing Lazarillo, and sang her numbers well 'Alas, those Chimes," was sung by her with much pathos and sweetness, and Mrs. Ryse was an entertaining and efficient Marchioness. Mr. Castle was rthe perfect impersonation of the rolicking, jovial, emotional and large hearted Don Csesar.
