It was mentioned in the Globe yesterday morning that the offic;r.s of the law had -made a levy or the safe of the board of educa " tion to satisfy a small judgment of $13.99 re covered by Patrick O'Brien. The oflicc-r mak ing the levy tlijcl not carry the safe away, as it was too hefty ! for his biceps. Yesterday Mr. Donnelly, the secretary of the board, ex pounded the 4av,- to those who at tempted to get possession of the strong box, and in doing so took down the act establishing and regulating the school system of St. Paul, aod read from section 20 that "no part of the real or personal property, held for school purposes, shall be subject ito execution or sale, for any debt or liability against the said school board, but the same exemption from execution and sale, as is now provided by the charter of the" city of St. Paul, shall apply to ill tho school property, real, personal or mjixed." From this it appears that Lawyer Donnelly has the best of the ar gument, and that the board of education is likely to retain the safe. _VV/,: ' CITY NOTICES. ; Drive in X' lan:; eld at Lindeke, Lnjdd & Go's.
