Mrs. Bridget Kelley residing with her eon F. J. He explained the note o ; the ground of its being a joke. Better not repeat the joke. A few weeks ago a young man named H. D. Chapman arrived in St. Paul and represented himself as the traveling agent of a prominent business house of Cleve land, Ohio. He put on considerable stvJe, and during his brief stay in St. Paul man aged to victimize a number of his chance acquaintances in this city by obtaining money from them and giving thorn drafts upon the firm, ail of which were returned dishonored. Among the ; victims are Joseph Stanchfield and Ehlo Allen. Upon finding that they had been taken in to the tune of several hundred dollars, the boys got mad and Mr. Chapman was arrested r.t the >.icollet house at Minneapolis on Thursday night by Detective O'Connor, and yesterday morning he was brought before Judge Burr, and in default of $760 bail wf;:, committed until Dec.
