Theatrical.^ Waiting for the Ver^^dict ^ is one of tbe very best plays yet put on the^Virginia stage and bus been presented two even-^irgs during this week with well merited snecexs.^Few plays have the serious and comira^ so well^balanced or neatly blended and few plays give the^entire company so good *n opportunity to appea'^to advantage. It would puzzle one to decide which^is the star part, either one of s half dozen presen. -^iug good opportunity for fine acting, and we must^say that the piece was set only well oast, but that^careful i-tudy and an earnest desire to excel nV.r-^actt.ized the rend' ing of the entire piece The^characters are strong I \ drawn, but tbe qm^k r'^ernation troro ^grave t-^g-^y from lively to severe ^^prevents satiety and keeps ap the interest from^the commencement of the early deveh.pise; ; ;^until the final tall of the rur.ai.i. The^Explain^.^The bill removing
theCapital to Helena, returned to the House with^the Governor's objections thereto, and passed over^the veto, came up for consideration in tbe Council^nt 3 p. m. on Saturday, and gave tbe members an^opportunity to explain their vote* on tbe question.^The primary interest in the question bad been^greatly intensified by tbe bitter malignancy with^which the proas of Helena has assailed Governor^Smith and Mr. Orr, for their action in tbe premises^and the probability that a spirited debate would en^^sue attracted a large number of ladies and gentle^^men to the Council Chamber. Mr. CuHen opened^the attack in force, making his points on tbe^necessity of permanently locating the Capital while^a territorial dependency, that government assistance^might be obtained for the erection of public build^^ings or if tbe matter was delayed the whole expense^would devolve upon tbe people of Montana. He^alluded to the passage of tbe former bill and appro^^val by tbe Governor, and reviewed tbe Governor's^objections, at lecgtb. We concede to him the credit^of making all the strong point* in tbe case, but tbe^fierce denunciation, unwaranted assertion* and in^^vective bestowed upon the Governor was wholly un^^called for. It added nothing to tbe strength of his^argument but detracted from It. Tbongh debate^es begets intemperate speech, the fire should^isume tbe priest as well as the sacrifice. Mr.^occupied forty minute* in explaining things.^We understand it will be published in the Gazette.^Mr. Otr followed in an address of an hour and s^half, sad the discug'iou was closed briefly by^President Bagg, when tbe question was made the^special order for this evening at 7 o'clock- A syn^ops is of tbe speeches of tbe latter gentlemen ii^given in another column, to which we refer onr^readers fur s view of the two side* of the Capital^question.

OneMore.^Another of those fearful^trage l;es, for which Montana unfortunately is too^iamous, occurred at Morse's store in Ge^'atia vsl-^i ley, on last Wednesday evening, resulting in the^ins.ant death of Elk Morse, oue of the best and^must highly esteemed residents of Montana. Tbe^circumstances, as nearly as we can learn them, are^es follows: Mr. Morse sometime since became in^^volved in a law suit with Wm. Herron. aod a bitter^fee'ing has sinee existed between the two men Di^Wednesday evening Mr Herron, accompauied by^the Sheriff of Gallatin county, Mr. Guy, came to^Mone t store, with authority from tbe oourti to at^^tach certaiu mnles and apparahoes in Morse's pos^^session. Mr. Morse objected to the seizure of the^propetty and had s^^nie altercation with Iierrun.^While speaking to auother person, with his face^from Herron, the latter drew a pistol and snapped^it at Morse. Morse instantly turned totvards bim,^aud as he did so, received a shot from Herrou's^pistol which eatered his heart. He at the same time^drew his six shooter aod struck Heron over tiic^head and both men tell to the tloor simultaneously.^Morse, expiring instantly The Sheriff, who had^stepped oiuside a minute before, returned on hear^^ing the shot and seized both the piatols. Herron,^rising dining tbe excitement, escaped through Uie^door, mounted a horse and galloped down the road.^The Sheriff mourned andsithongh an attempt was^madewto prevent it, followed, and succeeded in^halting him, with the aid of three shots, just as he^reached Mr. Culver's^ Herrou's residenre^some^two miles below. Herron was placed iu confiue-^ment. a courier despatched here for Gen'l Thor-^oughman te conduct tlte examination, and the tri^^al was to take place yesterday, before the Probate^Juilgnat Morse's sturo. kV^m^ lliif.' nr fmir person*^wituessed the affray, aad tsie fact* of the case ,^^doubtless be fully eli^4*ed us the examination. The^ner.-fe rirated a profound ssmiiiion in Virginia, as^Mr. Morse has a multitude of warm friends in this^uity. Mr. Herron is a \ trig Stan whose reputation^heretofore we believe ha* been of a high character.
Atn again.-Following Richelieu's ad^^vice that when the lion's skin is short, it should^l e lengthened out with the fovea, Uie gentlemen^w ho have recently bct.n suffering fi\ m a viru.eni^I attack of ^ Veromania.^ accomplished a corp de^] etai in the House ou Wednesday afternoon. On readsng^it, it proved to be the Capital bill dished up iu a^new shape, Virginia being ignored, and Helena.^Gallatin city and Deer Lodge being tbe places^designated upon which the people should vote^Amendments, motions to adjourn or refer, recesses^for an hour, everything was voted down, and un^^der a suspension of the rules, the bill was crowded^through and ou liual iMs.itige stood ayes, U; Daps.^3; the latter being Mesei*. w'ord, I'atton and Gal-^laher. Mr G. merely voting auaiiist it bee*';^tbe utter lack of courtesy shown by its most strenu^^ous advocates. Mr. ibMwell, who introduced it,^voted to refer it to a committee, but the Edgerton^delegation carried thair poiut, and the bill -^*eu4 to^the Council, where it passed. 4 to 3, and U now in^the Govern' r ^ band*. Its friends have no hopes^of sncocse. The entire scheme, was to place Mr. Orr^in the position ot voting against Gallatin City, an 1^compel the Governor to fcg.iin veto too bill Tbi^^^is certaialy work enatigh to do without indulging^In sin h time consuming nonsense.

Mr. Cnllen of the same^committee, who favors tbem, presents minority^re pons and tbe Council sustains him- The junior^branch has seen proper to reprove the senior rather^curtly.
LastLevee.^The last of the series^of very pleasant Levees given by the Governor^will be held at Receptiou Hall on to-morrow even^^ing. The attendance the last two eveninrs has^been only measured by the capacity of the Hall,^w hether this occasion will require the use of an^extra Hall or two, or whether, like an omnibus, the^one formerly used will always hold one more,^remains to be seen. Three in a Bed.^^To some oi
thosewho have lived in the mountains for a length^of time, the necessity of having to take a night's^rest with three in s bed, may no doubt be one^among the many of their reminiscences, laughable^or otherwise. a ease of the kind occurred iu this^city on Saturday night, which did not have a very^laughable ending, at least for two of the oariu-ti.^We know not tbe cause of the fracas^whether^it^arose from Uie narrownes* of ihe bed and conse^^quent discomfort, or from what is more iikely un^^der the circumstances, an uncongeoiallfy of dispo^^sition^but about four a. m , there at on arose - ^^lierce a yell that u a woke those of the inhabitants^of the section where it occurred who were asleep at^die dine, and made them think that the historical^Gabriel hao sounded his e flat trombone. An im^^mediate survey of the premises disclosed the cause^of tbe disturbance to be two half nude individuals^oaving a very lively fight in tbe snow; w itli a shad^^owy form, draped in u long white flowing robe,^standing by^which (tlie form) might have been^taken for tbe shade of layers superintending a^^mill,^ but whose fivquent yells prec'ml-d any^possibility of its iH'iiiir otuer than tb-~,i and blood,^with a good rang attachment. The result of the^fight, we understand, were two black eyes and a^scratched face ; but we were nnable to learn .\ n: ii^of tbe twr^ occupied the bed for the remainder of^the night or ratiser morning.
