He is a strong,^logical speaker, and those who hear him^smay be sure that they wiU have an in^telleclual treat. A Ut i-l HLICAN CONSPIRACY. Ne again warn democrats that the re^^publicans are conducting a boodle still-^hunt to carry Montana. In addition to^the large sums raised by the three re^^publican millionaires in Helena, Chair^^man y uay, of the National committee,^is sending in money contributed by^federal officeholders and the protected^industries of Pennsylvania, to corrupt^the ballot. The conspiracy is as deep^laid and as thoroughly organized as was^the Dudley scheme in Indiana. The^methods to be employed are the same.^The voters who are supposed to be cor^ruptible are to be divided into groups^and a guard kept over them until they^vote. Democratsmust not be lulled into^over-confidence. They have the most^popular candidates, the tide is strongly^in their favor and, with fair work at the^polls, the victory is theirs; but they may^yet be robbed of the results by fraud. AHover the United States the opinion^prevails that the resources of the federal^administration are being taxed to the^utmost to secure the election of republi^^can senators and a republican represen^^tative from onr new state. Agents and^spies of the government, like Payne, of^Wisconsin, have been in Montana send^^ing to Washington reports on the situ^^ation, and telling where republican^money will da most good. Benjamin^Harrison, president of the United States,^has been consuming with anxiety over^the prospects of democratic success here,^..nd has made known his fears to the^politicians who have gathered about^him. Kven conservative men of his own^party are humiliated by the spectacle he^presents to the American people, and the^Philadelphia Evening Telegraph, a re^^publican journal, admits its party's^shame in these words: 'A hen the chief magistrate of the coun^^try causes It to be proclaimed that he is^anxious that republicans shall render as^siatance to carry elections in new and dis^^tant states, he should not hesitate to take^ihe next step, and state what the reward^^ ^f the cbeerful giver shall be. There is^probably no one, not even Mr. Dudley^himself, who, better than Mr. Harrison^knows about the shameless, corrupt use of^m-^ney at the late presidential election; for^nowhere else was the use of it more shame^^less than In his own state. Xo one should^know better than he that. If this corrupt^use of money is not stopped, elections will^speedily cease to represent the will^of the people and will only represent^t M most Infamous pollution of the ballot^There is no one in the entire length and^breadth of the land who Is under such^solemn obligations as be to discountenance^it; but he does not do that when he causes^it to be announced that it is no secret that^he wants the whole body of republicans in^the country to contribute to a campaign^fund to carry the new states for his party^lle is, by doing that, countenancing, en^conraging, inviting that corruption which^was so signal and disgraceful a part of the^last presidential campaign. Webeg to remind our republican^friend in Philadelphia that the republi^^can boodlers are under surveilliance, and^they will not work the Indiana game^here, if thorough organization will pre^^vent it.
