At a called meeting of the Mavor and Trus tees of the town of Houma, Saturday, March 20th, 1857, the following members were present: F. S. Goode, Mayor, Joet Berger, J. P. Vigerie. On motion the following sectione were adopted as permanent rules and regulations viz: S.c 1-That there shall be established in the town of Houma a public market home, in which shall be mold meat, vegetables, &e. Sac. 2-That no person shall have the right to hawk and sell except in said market house after the same is established, any of said articles before the hour of 10. a. a., under a penalty of ten dol lars for each offence. Sac. 3-That the said market house be built by subscription. That the price of each share shall be twenty dollars, payable one half cash and the bal anee on the first day of March, 1858. Each person taking stock shall give his note to the or der of, and endorsed by some good secuity, for the credit portion of said steek. Sac. 4-That the Mayor of the towa be, ad he is hereby authorized to subscribe fortes shares in said market house, and execute a note far the credit payment as aforesaid. Sec. .-That when the necessary amount shall be subscribed. which shall not be leas than three hundred dollars, a meeting of the stockbolders shall be called by a publie notice given by the Mavor and posted in two public places, at least two days before the meeting, for the purpose of electing three commissioners, and that each stock holder shall have a note for each share held by him. Sec. 6-That the commisioners thus elected shall have the right to receive plans for the said market house. to contract for the same, and to re ceive the amount subscribed and pay over the same. Sec. 7-That after the said market house shall have been built and accepted by the aforesaid ciimmissiouers. another public meeting of the stock holders shall be called in the same manner as aforesaid, for the purpose of making all needful Srules and regulations for the said market house. and also to elect a superintendent who shall hold his office for one year, whose duty it shall be to superintend the said market, and to enforce the aforesaid rules and regulatios. .aEc. S-That the aforesaid commiioers shall have the right to accept a donation in full pro .perty or in usufruct, of a suitable lot for the said market house.
