Ile it further enacted, rit., That section ten of bald sot is hereby amended and re-enacted so as to read only as follows, viz: That it shall be the duty of the levee commissioners of this district on the first Monday of August of each year to proceed to make estimates of the probable s cost of building and repairing a levee which shall º commence at the northern line of said district, and running down the west bark of Bayod For doche and Grosse Tote to the dl ko across Bayou Maringonin, and thence across said dyk' aid down the Bayou Grosso Tote to the southern boundary of said distriot, and having made eaid estimates, they shall levy a contribution upon all lands protected by said levee, not to exceed fifty eotent per Mcre for cleared lands, and twenty-live cents per acre for wood lands, whloh money shall be appropriated by them for the purpie of buildl ing and repairing said loeveo provited, that when said levee shall have been fluy completed to its proper sixe, the said assessment bshall not exoeed one-fourth the above specified rates. That the ibard of Levee Commissioners shall have power to looate all new levees, to establish their dimen sions, to make contracts with contractors for the building of the same, to make repairs on levees, to divide the district into sections and appoint inspectors over the same, to prescribe their duties and to enact penalties for the neglect thereof.
