September 19o: The machinery of the Golden Rule was sold at tction on the I'ubli Landling yesterday. Capt. Vint. tthinkle and Capt. O. 1'. Shinkle purchased the engines, three boilers, doctor, anchors and chain for $2700. The engines are 18 inches in diameter and 7 feet stroke, and the boilers are 26i feet, long and 44 in'ires in diame ter. Considerable riois',llaneous stuff taken from the wrerk was sold at Warden & MOleCl !a.d's nearly all of which was purcharsed by Va t, Vint. Shinkle and Capt. O. P. Shinkle. It will be remembered that the engi neers under Lieut. Lockwood began the survey f the Mississippi river between Cairo aind Now rlens, and proceeded as far as Island No. 1.
