As It becomes n Ilooesry for the preservati.on of the health of the cilty at this seion of the year, that every posallblo effort should be made towards keeping the publlc avOenues, gutters and alloys clean and froe from all offon~ivo mantter, I hereby respectfully call upon the pub lie to saslst the authorities by complying with the following reirquets, to wit:. 1. Such residents as have yard hydrants are requested to permlt same to run a sufflclent time to wash away rubbish, filth, etc., and to render the street gutters fresh and clean. Thls step becomes necessary aIs many of the cross streets, or streets parallel with the river, are without water plugs, and the diicul.ty heroto fore experienced in flushing those gutters be ing mainly due to defoetive drainage and the want of water. 2. Residents will peanse tplace, or instruct their servants to place, the garbage in boxes in front of their dwellings before 5 o'clock i. m., prlor to the city earts making their rounds. A striot adherence to this plan will remove, In a great measure, the cause of the groat number of omplaints concerning the non-removal of garbage. I therefore earnestly request all good citizens to aid the authorities In keeping the streets and gutters eloan and healthy, and In assisting to remove any waste or offensivo scattering promotly.
