For several days our local future market has been gradually giving away. and when the discouraging accounts from New York and Liverpool came in this morning it was par tially prepared to meet the decline, but not the subsequent heavy offerings. This gave a sharp and unexpected turn downwards. driving the market considerably under the parity of the falling off at New York. The sales to-day were the largest since the inau guration of future calls at our Exchange. com prising 11,600 bales, including 8100 between calls. against a total of 4700oo yesterday, inoluding 2Hoobetween calls. The movement was also more general than we have noticed for some time. comprising not only 6soo Mays. but also 1700 Aprils. 800o Junes. eo0 Julys and soo October. s The market for Mays ooened at 12.90 and gradually gave way to 12.78 at the third call, after which sales were reported at 12.79@12.8o. The average of the sales of Marys to-day was 12 as, against 12.92 yesterday. 12 97 Monday and 13.os Saturdayr. Altogether we are gratified to notice that the decline of the past few days and the sharp down ward turn here to-day have been met with better grace than was expected, whleh demon strates that our local future business is now on a solid basis, as it can cheerfully aooeot a re verse as well as take advantage of a victory. coUssE or THE MUARnT.
