President MKinley who was shot twice this afternoon at
the Buffalo Exposition grounds lies in a serious condition the
home of John G Milburn President of the Exposition
Col Michael has wired Secretary Hay that the surgeons r
will send him an official bulletin of the Presidents condition
which at 845 oclock this evening took a critical turn
The bullet which struck him in the breast was removed
shortly after the shooting The wound in the stomach is caus
ing the physicians the gravest apprehensions The bullet which 1
pierced both walls of the abdomen has not yet been removed
An effort was made to locate it at 6 oclock but the doctors de rlll
sisted after nearly an hours work as the patient was growing weaker iI
It was decided to make another attempt tomorrow Ilf
Frederick Nieman the assassin is under strong guard at the Jr >
Buffalo Police Headquarters JI
He narrowly escaped lynching at the hands of a frenzied mob of
20000 men and women in the Exposition grounds who seized every II
