. 1* AMI. AND NAVY NEWS , — LV«c Battleships Will Have Less Boom for Injured. [From Tbe Tribune Bureau.] • Washington, June IS. ECONOMY OF HOSPITAL SHIPS -The surreon ««rjers: of the na^•y has round it possible to make a. »al>erial reduction in the amount of space which has been hitherto allotted to the care of the sick and Injured of ships of war.. The percentage of ■pace used for what is 110 11 as '"' bays on naval ships has contemplated accommodations in some Instances of four for «very on* hundred men of the ere-*: It is now believed that with the advent of the hospital ships and the facilities which will exist in time of war of transporting the injured to the hospitals on' shore it is possible to reduce the apace, hitherto given up to the hospital section on « warship, and the accommodations have been re duced by one-half in most Instances, so that on the battleships which are now about to be con structed, and one of which is to be built at the I Hill navy yard, the sick bay will consist of from -eighteen to twenty rots. This gives an op portunity of more space in the living quarters of the crew, and is considered of greater advantage than the u*e of the space for the small fraction of men who require hospital attention, which class is hereafter to be accommodated on the hospital ship, one of which, it is expected, will ultimately be at tached to each fleet or cruising and Independent .squadron. The "action" -was in a valley be- j tween sand hills, and there was an artillery en- i papement. Battery D of the 3d United States Ar- | tillery formed part of the "blue" force, and the ; machine puns or the 12th regular infantry regiment j •were divided- The umpires were delighted with the results of the morning's work and said that the battle was •well fought. The 12f> wagons in the convoy were •topped In a deep gully about six hundred yards from the. headquarters of the opposing force, but ■were unobserved Major Dickman protested to the chief umpire, Lieutenant Colonel Glenn, that the ■wagons had no tops on them, and his men were not looking for such vehicles. The New York Na tional Guard cavalry organizations were -with the "brown" force and went into "action" dismounted. This afternoon all of the troops marched under pealed orders to bivouac at their stations to-night. They will illustrate a problem in advance guard action. General E. P. The Ist Bat tery, from Manhattan, in command of Captain John F. '"''Ryan. will form the artillery. A "blue" army is supposed to b« retreating from Ogdeneburg to escape an imaginary "brown" army. From the way in which all our boys' suits have been selling, double breasted, Norfolk, sailor and Russian suits, we certainly are in the swing — realize more every day how many people there are all over the country who are ready to pay fair prices for first class boys' clothes, and how few stores exist which sell them. Might add that all boys' fancy wool sailor and Russian suits are now $5.50. $7-50 or $0.50. "Star" blouses most mothers of boys know well.
