Buyers were found yesterday for some
largo and well located properties in Man
hattan districts.
In the Broadway zone, a short distance
north of Sherman Square, there VIM a
block front deal: in the downtown section
several sites were sold, and in the central
TV. Side the trading resulted In a change
of ownership to a lUh street building and
to three 15th street houses.

John T. Underwood, president of the
Underwood Typewriter Company, bought
through George R. Read ft Co.. from Sam
uel H. Stone and Heilner & Wolf, the five
Btory building with store Noa. M and 33
■\>sey street, the northeast corner of
Church street. The parcel lias a frontage
of 52.5 feet and a depth of 7.". feet. It was
bought by the sellers at the auction sale
of the holdings of the estate of Joseph W.
Meeks on November 10 for $20b,500. The
property was held at 52T5.000.
There was a report that Mr. Underwood
would erect on tie site a twelve story
office and store building. A representative
of the brokerage firm in the transaction
said that Mr. Underwood had not pur
chased the site with the intention of im
proving- it for the use of the typewriter
company of which he is the head.
Another important downtown transaction
was the sale by Camman, Voorhees &
Floyd, for Walter Smith and Louise A.
Gormly. of Rochester, of No. 75 Broad
street, a four story mercantile structure, on
a. plot IS-lIxS&.S feet.
The property Is two doors south of the
new Consolidated Stock Exchange. The
buyer Is Arabel Armstrong.
SLOCK FRONT DEAL,.
The block front on the easterly side of
Broadway, from TSth to 2Mb street, pur
chased last November from the Sandford
estate by Oscar R. Meyer and Mayer L
Halff. was resold for them by Parish, Fish
er & Co. to a client of the Douglas. Robin
son, Charles S. Brown Company. The prop
erty, -which is partly covered with two
story taxpayers, faces the big Apthorpu
apartment, owned by the Astoria.
Cleveland M off en, author and magazine
-writer, bought yesterday at the Yesey
street rooms for 595.000 the dwelling house
at the southeast comer of Kb .-::-.t.^-'ur

There was considerable competition for the
house. The bidding started at 570.000.

BAY SHORE ACREAGE DEAL.
The Lawrence estate property of more
than five hundred acres, adjoining Bright
v.aters. at Bay Shore. Long Island, has
been bought by the T. B. \ckerson Com
pany. "With this addition the Brightwaters
development consists of more than one
thousand acres, extending from Great South
Bay to the Long Island Railroad.
BUYS ROCKLAND LAKE HOTEL.
William H. Jones has bought, through
the Holden-AHen Realty Company, the
Georgian, a forty-seven room hotel at
Rockland Lake, opposite the station oftthe
■West Shore Railroad.
The building will be entirely renovated
and bowling alleys and a new' ballroom
addt'd.

MANHATTAN.
BROADWAY- entire block front on
the east side of Broadway, between TSth
and 79ih streets, belonging to Oscar R.
Meyer and Mayer L. llalff, was sold by
Parish. Fisher & Co. to clients of the
Douglas Robinson. Charles S. Brown Com
pany. This property was recently bought
by the sellers from the Sanford estate and
Is practically the only unimproved block
front between 7.d and £6th streets In Broad
way. The buildings 011 this block front
consist of two story brick stores and apart
ments. The northeast corner is owned by
Archibald D. Russell, and on the west side
of Broadway the entire block Is occupied
by the Apthorp apartment house.
